Who was PA announcer Saturday
Voice was familiar, but not from UD. Perhaps Bluejackets?
I thought he did a good job - anyone know who he was?

I think it was the Reds PA...sounded awesome. It sounded just like when he would say Crutcher for the Reds. Maybe I am wrong, but it certainly sounded like him.

Only if he improves. He didn't announce most players leaving the court, and missed some players entering.

My first instinct was it was the Reds guy (Joe Zerhusen), but early on I realized that wasn't him. Still curious who it was. I agree with you, I thought he had a great voice. I really like Jeff Stevens as UD's main guy, but for someone who has done few UD games previously (if any), I thought he did a great job... and awesome voice for the job.

I believe I caught a "Josh Landers" at one point and I'm nearly positive Jeff S. doesn't announce every player coming and going, either. Just thought he did a great job for someone who may not have done a UD game before.

I wondered this also. At one point during game he was on Jumbotron, mostly by accident. When I saw him (well a person with a mic while sitting at the main table). I thought he looked like the guy that does the 'in the crowd' stuff at the girls bb games. Who I think is the same guy who does the girl's VB games.
If this is true (big if)... he has an awesome voice. And is really good at the volleyball games. The girls bb games is different (not as enjoyable to me, but 'does his job'...).
Honestly, I don't know if this is correct. But I think so. And I don't know his name.

Unless it's substitutions during timeouts, I'm pretty sure Jeff Stevens announces players coming and going. That's when the crowd claps for those leaving the court for good play.

I still can hear Charlie Robinson....
"In the Dayton Lineup, #24 Alex Robertson, replacing #35 Noland Robinson."
And it was great to hear his voice, back in the day when the CBS network would broadcast his starting lineups call for the NCAA tourney games. Classy Man!

I can also hear Charlie saying,
"Lubomir Bodvondonovorickovichoslerp at the line. Two throws."
"Line change...URAL Select."

I have no idea who the new guy is, but my guess is he's had experience calling pro games, whether they be G league or NBA. In addition to fouls and substitutions, he was also announcing most/all vioalations...i.e.,"traveling, Dayton" -- but I like his delivery. Jeff Stevens seems to sing-songy when calling a made shot: "Jalen Crrrutcherrrr....Josh Cunninghaaaam....Ryan Mikeselllll"
I'm curious if Jeff Stevens is out, was just unable to make it, or what. Stevens didn't call the VCU game either.

Regarding Jeff Stevens
My wife and I were driving through Louisiana and Mississippi a few weeks back on a weekend and we discovered that Jeff Stevens hosts a nationally syndicated show on IHeart Radio on weekends, not sure if that has any impact on his UD duties or not. Plus I still see his band Stranger playing around town on occasion.

The announcer was very good, reminded me of an NBA announcer, just rolling through visiting players. I’d hire him for every home game. The sound was on point and the techno
Music up to tip was very cool. Bravo UD.

He did a nice job. I love how in the SLU intro he motored through their names so quickly. Barely gave them any recognition at all, just as it should be.

I've always liked Jeff Stevens. He's not there for every game. He does or used to do the WSU radio games.

I thought he sounded a little like the guy who does PA for the Dayton Dragons.
He missed and mispronounced a couple things, but overall did a nice job for 1st time. definitely liked the homer volume and enthusiasm difference after made baskets.

Reminded me of the PA guy that used to do Laker games at the LA Forum during Showtime era.
"mark eaton."

He wasn't from Dayton. He pronounced "your university of day-TON flyers." This is an incorrect pronunciation. The "t" is almost silent. Its "Deightin." Or its also a correct pronunciation to leave the "t" out entirely. "Deighin"

Say What? I’ve heard it said many ways and I don’t care where he puts the hyphen! That’s a fact Jack!

I believe the proper pronunciation is day-UHN.

One of my best friends from my days at UD was from northern New Jersey. He always pronounced it “Daydun”. So then, he got married to his college sweetheart, they settled in the Dayton area, and had 3 kids: 2 girls and a boy, who all spent the first 18 years of their lives here. So, how does the son, who was born and bred here, pronounce the name of his hometown? “Daydun”.

I thought he was a bit of a low talker and hard to understand. At least from my seats in the 400s.

I didn’t notice the pronounciation but I thought he sounded like the guy who announces A10 tourney games and that guy hit the T in Dayton too hard also. Natives say Day’n. Full glottal stop after the “day” and voice the “n” with as little vowel possible.
His nice deep voice is good but when the crowd noise goes way up a higher pitched voice is more intelligible at least to my old ears.

It's your old ears. My ears are not that far behind, but I could still hear the PA well. Maybe it has something to do with where your seats are as it relates to the sound system. Although I don't always sit in my regulag seats, when I do its like the speaker and I came as a package unit. You feel like you are practically in the speakers.

If you see a bunch of "PUFFY SHIRTS" at the next game, you will know why.
