I think Dayton will be either 1 or 2 this year in the A-10. We are a MUCH better team then Charlotte. And Personally I think we our a bit better then Temple. Xavier and Dayton should be the two top teams. Dayton is the most athletic thats for sure.

Chris Wright > Derrick Brown

Marcus Johnson > B.J Raymond

Charles Little > Jason Love

Dayton has the potential to do something huge (IN MY MIND ATLEAST)

IMHO....regrettably

CW is better than Brown by a landslide
MJ is better than raymond...although i different type of player
but..CL is way way worse than Love....Love has been a consistent presence for them and a legit scoring threat...CL has been nothing more than a flashbang for us

I like Love because he can rebound and he is a good defender, but I don't look at him as a significant scoring threat more so than Huelsman or Little. He rebounds and puts the ball back in normally. Miller says that he is developing a back to the basket game now. We shall see.

I think the best back to the basket offensive guy on both teams right now is Kurt Huelsman. He has the baby hook over his left shoulder as his go to move. If he gets a move rotating the other way, he could be a fine post man.

You've left out CJ Anderson for X. He will take 15 shots a game this season.
MJ and Raymond are totally different. Raymond has the ability to nail clutch shots and sneaks in and grabs clutch rebounds too. I like MJ as a slasher.
Both teams are looking for replacements at the #2 spot. Jackson is working his tail off for the job but the frosh all offer different options too. If Crawford is eligible one of the frosh will redshirt. Dont underestimate Temple.

UD definitely has the makings of a legit contender. A lot of "ifs", but every team in the league has "ifs" this year.

Pure talent wise, I'd go X, UD, Temple, then St Joe.

Charlotte appears good, but while he was sporadic to put it best, the loss of Goldwire will have an impact. Dude could light it up like no one not named Roberts could. Is Mack really a player capable of leading a team on a game by game basis? Not sure. Maybe the biggest "if" the league has.

what is xaviers projected starting 5? id like to see the match ups for the whole thing if were gonna do those 3.

unfortunately i have to agree with "lil" rudy. wright and johnson get the nod but id go love over CL. but only slightly, unlike rudy would have you believe. oh and rudy, c-dubs isnt a landslide over brown...unfortunately.

I may be in the minority here, but i wouldn't put wright over brown at this point in time. I think brown's game is more polished and he showed what he's capable of in the tourney. I think CW will definitely get there (maybe this year), but just based on the last time i saw both of them, i think brown is the better all around player at this point. Xavier is going to be deeeeeeeeeep. Lots of new faces and competition, so we'll see how they all gel and come together. But they have oodles of talent on that team.

I would like to think we are a top 3 team in the a10 this year. But without good point guard play, we could be as low as 7th or 8th. I'm trying to lower my expectations to cushion the pain a little better.

Man do we need to get to the ncaas. It's been a long time.

I have a different opinion of the starting five and also a little perspective.

PG) Terrell Holloway
SG) Dante Jackson
SF) CJ Anderson
PF) Derrick Brown
C) Jason Love

Sixth Man: BJ Raymond will either sub for Dante or CJ. Much like Josh Duncan, BJ Raymond is very good on the offensive end, but he is to slow to cover most teams SG. Dante Jackson is Xavier's best on the ball defender and will start in Miller's system because of his defensive capabilities. Will Dante play more minutes than Raymond, probably not but Miller will set the tone on the defensive end in the beginning of games. However, much like Duncan in the later part of the year, when it is win or go home BJ will be on the floor.

Seventh Man: Jamel Mclean will sub in for Derrick or Love. With Derrick and CJ logging close to 30 minutes a game I see Miller playing Mclean, Brown, and Anderson at the same time. Jamel is a very capable defender and can guard the C, PF, and SF spot. Also I think the staff is going to bring Kenny Frease along slowly, I would not be surprised to see him get minutes, but Jamel will have a bigger role, until Kenny proves he is too good not to be on the floor.

Eighth Man: This will be whoever does not take the redshirt between Redford and Lyons. Miller will likely start Holloway but also give back-up minutes to either of the two other freshman point guards. Each guard brings a different skill set, Redford a great shooter, and Lyons and explosive athlete.

Ninth Man: Kenny Frease will be brought a long slowly in the beginning of the year. When it is all said and done perhaps he moves up in the rotation and pushes Love for minutes.

Tenth Man: Brian Walsh will be inserted into the line-up as a SG or SF when either BJ, Dante, or CJ need a breather. Walsh is probably one of the best shooters on Xavier's team, and early reports from Cintas indicate that he and Holloway are playing the best of the freshman.

I highly doubt Miller is going to go anymore than ten deep during the regular season. Last season he went 10 deep until the NCAA tournament where he only played 8-9 players. I think it is safe to say the same this year given our roster.

The remaining three players are Crawford, Taylor, and/or a redshirted Redford/Lyons. These guys will be practice players and will contribute next season when CJ, BJ, and Derrick (perhaps) are no longer on the team.
