Usa today rank ncaa coach salary

If this is already posted, sorry.

Yet, this should become a glaring post if not.

(I do understand the supplemental considerations are not listed, but still...

Google: USA TODAY coach salaries NCAA. I am sorry the link did not work.

I also mean to soften this initial post; I have edited my comments out.

This in no way is meant to be a put down to Archie, but what, if anything, had Archie done prior to coming to UD, or even in his first two seasons, to warrant more than $335K? The answer by the way...is nothing. That is a very generous salary for a 32 year-old hirer with no head experience at any level of basketball, or at any level of anything in life for that matter. Very fair, and good job by UD not to over pay until the worth is proven, and even better job by UD of not giving too much upfront in terms of long-term negotiating with a new coach. It helps university position going into further contract talks. Excellent job of managing on UD's part...EXCELENT!

Those are the 2011 fiscal year numbers. Not a full season's pay for the coach, who was hired in April 2011.

Okay. But, just so you realize, that was a list of ONLY the teams in this year's NCAA tournament.

Ohio U is clearly showing more interest at what you say is entry level, or/and
unproven hires.

I am surprised.

What I mean to ask is, would that figure, have put Dayton's hire in even the top 100 of NCAA salaries?

And okay to the shrewdness. But I sure hope the negotiating strategies are out the window now.

He is liable to hook up with my relative's agent.

OU's recent hire was an experienced head coach who had just beaten a #5 seed in the NCAA tournament. Totally different than Archie when he was hired.

I am alluding to the approximate connection between money and seriousness.

Truthfully, if my thread has a significant counter-productive effect on the real world matter, I would be glad that it gets closed.

Archie's base salary in his first year projected over 12 months was roughly $500K. That's for a coach with no head coaching experience. It's more now, and he also will almost assuredly be receiving some bonuses for our tournament run.

I think that is only his salary directly from UD. His compensation probably includes TV/Radio, athletic equipment (shirts/shoes) and other endorsements.

I can't open the link. Nevertheless, how does one get salary info from a private institution?

Archie will undoubtedly be making more next year. However, if you want to turn the figures on their cranium, look at it this way.

Cost per 2014 NCAA game:

- Duke (Krustofsky the Klown): $9.7M
- Some lesser state funded Ohio school (Ratface): $3.3M
- Kansas (Self-ish): $2.5M
- Villanova (Wrong): $1.25M
- Kentucky (Calamari): $917K
- x ('Deliverance' banjo boy): $860K
- Texas Southern (Mike "my coat room at IU was bigger than this practice facility" Davis): $200K
- Dayton (Super Arch): $84K

Kind of makes the admin look like rocket surgeons now, doesn't it?

Non-profits must make their filings of Form 990 available to the public, which includes the compensation for anyone making over $100K. The figures for Archie's salary were taken from the latest filing which was from 2011 in which he was only the coach for 8 months.

If he repeats, your scenario is way too logical.

I think your logic makes perfect sense in the corporate world, and also for our head coach at this juncture in his career. But going forward, if the Flyers repeat their tournament magic next season, there is no Human Resource salary scale that will apply, IF we want to keep him. In the end we will pay what the market dictates or lose him, HR logic and guidelines be damed. IF he leads us to a consecutive ELITE 8, are we ready to pay him a $M?

If he made 300k in 8 months it Looks like his yearly salary when he signed was 450k plus hundreds of k of other compensation and it sounds fine to me. What is he making now? Any educated guesses.

Basketball and football coaches salaries are often obscene, the staffs are too large, and it should be an embarrassment to any respectable university/college to pay so much. Maybe that is why I am beginning to prefer soccer, volleyball, baseball, and these "lesser" sports just as much.

someone posted during the tournament that archie's salary was upgraded to 1.4 - 1.5 mil with bonuses. That was before the team reached the elite eight.

The elite eight run made $5.2 mil for the school after the A10 takes their cut

In my opinion the last two coaches to leave Dayton -- Purnell and Gregory -- did not leave because of money. Nor was the UD administration idle to make the decision easy.

If Archie ever becomes "the coach" that commands "the jing", I guarantee you Dayton will pay whatever it needs to pay. They will call the whales for donations to make it happen if they need to.

But, lets not put the cart before the horse. Stan Heath took Kent State to the Elite 8 once and now nobody even remembers. Im gobsmacked by the NCAA run this year, but the big money is for coaches that can do it on a routine basis.

Nova Flyer, maybe so. But highs from drugs is not my thing. Rushes from skydiving or climbing cliffs is not my thing either. The electricity from hooking on to your team that makes an NCAA run is stupendous IMO. PAY THE MAN!

UDBrian, thank you. I can sleep better if anyone can please verify this.

Chris R: One has to make a sizable bet BEFORE the race. Getting the kind of execution in Maui and in Tournament is not an accident. Someone who CAN is all that is possible for a UD at this stage. BG didn't know a chest pass from a hall pass.

Check out guidestar.org.

The 2011 return shows BG and Ryan Miller making 485k & 335k.

The 2010 return shows baby gangster pulling in $900k.

My guess is Archie is making over 800 on the full fiscal year.
