Findlay (Exhibition) Game Thread
Thanks Mods for starting this back-up... Another season of UD Basketball is here, can't wait!
Findlay always plays us hard... Should be a interesting game on Saturday. We will definitely see a lot of the Northland duo this weekend, especially with the Big A out. Also, I would be surprised if Dyshawn plays too.
Likely Findlay starting lineup:
G Sean Samsel 6'0" JR
G Aaron Robinson 6'3" SR
F Jake Heagen 6'5" SO
F Greg Kahlig 6'6" JR
C Brad Piehl 6'8" SR
I really hope the game is streamed but we'll see.

Ranked 3rd in a preseason poll.
Greg Kahlig looks like the one to watch. Findlay always has one of these "Do Everything" players that will give our guys fits. Will be fun to see how Derenbecker and Oliver handle this guy.
Really looking forward to getting back to the Dungeon!!!
Also...Check out their schedule. Notice ALL of the dates that are scheduled. You have to love that confidence.

I'll be there and will offer my views on the game Saturday night. Looking forward to it. We'll definitely have a size advantage down low. I imagine we'll see some small lineups fromnus with Oliver at PF and Benson at C as well.

lots of movement on the offensive side of the ball so far...allowing for some nice backdoor cuts for some easy layups

Listen to the radio feed. It is about 30 seconds behind, but at least you get the score and some stats.

Wow Oliver was lost in space when he got the ball out of bounds. Finally dribbles and misses an easy shot.

Benson obviously working hard and smart. But at 34-24 he gets pushed from behind on an offensive set and came away limping. Favored it a bit on the next inbound, then picked up where he left off. It's those unexpected jolts that Benson will get from time to time that will
give fans heart palpitations.

Hard to say. All the scoring is off drive and dish or offensive glass. That won't be so easy against a team with D1 size. Would really like to see some offense fr the wing. It is very hard to win in college without it.

I am so appreciative of the efforts UD makes to stream the games for us out-of-towners. However, again this year the quality of the product is so amateurish it is really embarrassing. As I have commented in years past, isn't anybody in the athletic department looking at what is being done? How can anybody with any production ability be satisfied with this?

it hasnt been too bad...the first couple of minutes with no sound, but after that its been decent enough. i can understand the complaints of the two student broadcasters, they could change that as well though just run the WHIO feed..have done that in the past.
still overall its decent enough, glad to have it

Our judgement and overall play today has made this a pretty impressive performance. This is the same type of Findlay team we struggled with the past several years.

wow , daytonflyers basketall site has great Gametracker like stats , and up to minute updates.
that is , if it's 55-42 UD right now.
Looks like Oliver and Vee Sanford also playing well on offense.
Along with Dill and Robinson.

sounds like Robinson walking all over their interior , while shooting 8 for 9.
I think ARchie needs some set plays, inside to out to get Derenbecker trying from outsdie and either Vee or someone else shooting 17 footers and up.
Doug is Right. Need some perimter game for the season

Benson down and out this time. Hope he comes back. Odds are not good that he can play this hard and make it through the season without taking hard contact. Hopefully he will be back out there before the end of the game.

I really don't think anyone playing on the wing (Derenbecker, Oliver or Sanford) has done much of anything on offense. Robinson especially, and Scott will be good. Robinson looks more ready now, but it is so hard to say what happens when you get the ball 3 feet from the hoop and the help defense is 6'9" and can play above the rim instead of 6'5" and can't touch the rim.
From what I have seen last two weeknds it is going to be a struggle to score.

From what I have seen last two weeknds it is going to be a struggle to score.

which is odd because coming into the season i was worried about the defense. i figured we would be able to score it would come down to playing better defense.

Robinson looks like he has the footwork and touch light years better than Huelsman, Kavs or Gavs at the same point in his career. Looks like he could develop into a good 5 in short time.
I mean, seriously, two dribbles from the top of the key without charging or turning it over? Draws the foul.

Positives:
49% FGM
33% from beyond the arc
Won total rebounds 46-28
Robinson with a double-double
I know it is only an exhibition game; however, not too shabby!

Let's hope we don't need Sanford to play much at the point. He seems very hesitant to dribble.

No. Not shabby. My comments are meant to be taken as to how this might translate to A10 play. I worry about scoring.

wanted to nickname Jalen "Beast", but he's too.....smooth, graceful, choose your word, for just "Beast". Any thoughts, hr deserves something better than the boring, basic JRob

I watched the whole game, and have to say I was very impressed. We basically did whatever we wanted today. This team has the potential to be better than last year.
