Yeesh, can't revert back to the first half now. We shouldn't be tied with this team.

Possessions against Miami are always limited, so you can't afford this many mistakes. Hope Flyers find a way in OT to get it done.

This team has really lacked defense in the second half and OT. Lots of easy entries into the paint and poor rotation.

Dayton has no legs whatsoever to close it out. One of the perils of a short roster and a short rotation.
Too much high ball screen the lasst 10 minutes and not enough trusting the offense to get good shots. Although you could argue that Dayton wasn't able to run it at an effective speed as gassed as they were.

too many TOs and no one to guard Mavunga. Defense still isn't good enough at stopping dribble penetration

Hopefully it's a learning experience for the players and the staff. Can't go on the road and beat anyone with 20 turnovers. Archie has to come up with some type of zone defense to preserve fouls and legs.

We shoot 49% to 40%. 24 fouls to 14 for Miami. 22 turnovers to 15 for Miami. We never shot a free throw in the second half or OT.
Good shooting negated by fouls and turnovers.

Really no one to blame but ourselves in this one. The game should have been over in the first half. Miami couldn't throw it in the ocean and we respond by turning it over 12 times to let them stay in it.

By far the worst game I've seen Dillard play out of the 4 games to date. The loss isn't on him though, it's on the entire defense. Unless these guys commit to that end of the court, we'll be lucky to be .500 this year. Give me a good defense over a good offense every time. Charlie Coles emphasizes defense...defense...defense. I hope our coach does too.
Frustrating loss.

Wow! I guess no one is allowed to breath on any Miami Player. Talk about touch fouls. I hope Miller pointed out the foul numbers to the refs during the game. We got away from Miller's plan I felt for some stretches. Flyer Fans at the game...drive home safe. I hate that drive!

Let his man drive to the basket several times. Lost the ball at the end instead of kicking out, threw a pass away, slowed us down to a crawl on offense I do not remember all of them, but good night he came down to earth with a crash.

If he hits that three after he blocked the shot in OT, he's everyone's favorite player right now.

mavunga is strange player, not that athletic but has really long arms and good skills. They run their offense thru him because he is a mismatch because he can play inside and out ad is excellent passing out of the double teams

you had to know it would be ugly. In the last 10 minutes and OT Mavunga was the difference. Miami could get him the ball and let him make plays ... Flyers don't have anyone like that.

Miami will have a better season than 4th in the MAC imho. I think the key was when Kavs fouled out. He did a great job against Mavunga but the guy ate benson up. The biggest positives were Kavs on defense and PW. Not much else

Point/Counterpoint:
I thought on the Mavungba stoppage where he fell down with contact with Kavs that the officials were reviewing the replay to see if Mavungba took a dive and was going to get T'd up for it. Kavs did nothing wrong.
I cant believe they didnt "T" Mavungba up. He fell down easier than a striker in the penalty box for AC Milan. The guy was practically faking injury. Kavs never put a finger on him.

The Miami announcers were saying it "clearly" looked like flagrant. WHA?!? Unfortunately I had to listen to them on the internet/TV stream because Larry and Bucky were way off sync with the Miami video. Atrocious.

You aren't going to win on the road when you turn it over 20 plus times and shoot 6 free throws.
Not getting to the line is going to be a problem all year. And it looks like defense will too. That's not a recipe for playing .500 in conference. Hopefully big improvements will be made as the year goes on but I don't see the Jimmies and Joes for that to occur.

Actually I take that half back. The play-by-play guy was saying it was clearly a flagrant foul, and the "color" guy was like, "They review for flagrant fouls now? Wow." And the play-by-play guy was like "Yes" and all confident that the refs would call a flagrant foul. haha

That's because there was none. If anything, Mavungba should have been teed for faking an injury.
However, what we saw from the zebras is what you get anytime Sanzere is on the floor.

We shouldn't have lost that game. But let's be honest, we weren't expecting an at large bid this season. As long as the team can show improvement in conference play, I'll be happy. NIT berth would be great this season.

It should be a season with no expectations...let's see how it develops and quit trashing Dillard already

BTW, I have seen a lot of guys taking dives trying to draw a flagrant. Mavunga stuck his elbow in Kavs ear in the 2nd half but he didn't flinch, he should have taken a dive

UD should expect to beat a MAC team every time they go out, 'rivalry' or not

no reason to trash dillard. 3 of those TOs came late when he had to try and force some offense. The lack of post feeds is still a big issue.

This team will be a work in process. One quote I made on this board a number of times. "X fans wanted to fire Sean Miller in December and extend his contract in March." I hope Archie's team will be strong closers.
This team has obvious holes. Expectations should not be high. Let's see if they can mold to cover up their weaknesses and build on their strengths.

I cant believe they didnt "T" Mavungba up. He fell down easier than a striker in the penalty box for AC Milan. The guy was practically faking injury. Kavs never put a finger on him.

Based on the officials discussion...and their actions...they reviewed it to determine if Matts arm action ri was flagrant to the head...mandatory college review. It wasn't...therefore it was a needless stoppage in play.

KD did OK tonight; Millet is a tough place to play, anyone expecting an easy victory down there is just living in dreamland. Coles teams are ALWAYS tough. Just didn't take care of the ball enough; still...we got us a stud at PG; no mistaking that. This is one game. I feel the guys will get better unlike previous years where we peaked at game one and went downhill. Lots of "touch" fouls against the Flyers.

"Lots of "touch" fouls against the Flyers."
Couldn't agree with that more. I was there and couldn't see the replays but it looked to us like all 4 fouls on CJ were touch and a couple were even no touch. His 4th foul looked like a horrible call to me. They had just had a stoppage in play after a scrum for a ball and were wiping the sweat off the floor. Restart play and the guy CJ was guarding ran right thru that spot, cut, slipped and fell to the floor. Whistle. Foul on CJ. He wasn't within a foot of the guy. Hard to win when your best player is taken/taking himself out of the game. He needs to find a way to stay on the floor. Same thing happened last year. Early in the season he was invisible at times on the floor or off the floor in foul trouble.

We would have gotten the touch foul calls too had we not been passive on the offensive end.
