Ralph has been playing better, but why is he posting up in the corner for 3's vs. the zone?

as I said earlier today
I hope the St J game would not lead to "deja vu all over again"
Sorry, but I think I was right.
Good thing is I have 8+ weeks to let my finger nails grow
for Selection Sunday because, as usual, UD cannot play well
enough, consistently, during the season to go to the NCAA
Selection Sunday having a spot in March Madness locked up.
Just hope the bubble does not burst again. We had CJ tonight,
did not at St B.......but another loss on the road. You guys in
your 30s and 40s plenty of have time - my clock is running -
I want to see UD a Sweet 16 team consistently. Maybe with
recruits from Northland and NYC plus two guys sitting out
can get us over the hump.

Ralph has looked lost the last two times he's been on defense. The first time was in zone and it's hard to look lost playing zone.

Paul is a disappearing act.
Cold shooting.

What is it about the basket on that end? Lots of clunkers from both teams. The ball comes off very high off the rim.

reminds of the Buffalo/Murray St games. SJU came out with a purpose in the 2nd half, Flyers were bystanders.
I am not drinking the NCAA koolaid. This team can lose to anyone on any night when the effort isn't there.

Oh well. I've been saying all year, win all of our home games and go no worse then 4-4 on the road in conference and we're dancing. That would put us at 22-8 going into the conference tourney. Looking at the schedule, this can be done. All is not lost. I just hope the loss at home to Buffalo doesn't haunt us.
We got owned inside tonight and our defense was an absolute joke. Learn from it and move on. We need these next two games at home.

More likely not and 8-8 in the league.

Oh well... regroup... 2 very winnable games coming up at home.
Quick turnaround and play URI on Saturday... Shake it off. They know they did not play well, they will recover... even with this loss we are still 1st in the conference!

not really, we've seen it numerous times this year. They don't show the consistency of a good team. They play good 2-3 game stretches and then drop a turd.

IMO this isn't a get pi**ed outing as much as it is a frustrating outing.
WE obviously have playmakers that have shown they can get it done. What we don't have, is a lick of senior leadership.
PW was in a position to go after a JP turnover in the first half and simply stood up and made no attempt to get the ball or hustle back on D. That is a problem. It is as if he was running a suicide and was in front of the time and took his time on the turn back to the line.
What is promising, is that you have a guy like Ralph come out and bust his hump. That says a lot about the mentality of the upperclass players. Luke plays half assed defense. Hence the reason that AM subbed Ralph for him after some missed assignments.
Yes, we were cold shooting, and hot shooting fixes the game. But, when you don't utilize the post properly, force perimeter shots, play on your heels, and never get set and established, your shots won't fall.
Wouldn't have been near as frustrating if it was a close game and they went down fighting. They didn't go down fighting = lack of an upperclassman taking charge. This will be a trend until AM allows the upperclass players to be leaders, versus disciples of the coach. I think this will happen under AM, but he isn't able to get it out of guys that are already conditioned to be a yes man.

AM didn't get schooled, we shot 34% from the floor...if we shoot 45% we are right in the game @ a very difficult place to play.

Was listening to Larry & Bucky, watching the web feed, toggling over to the ESPN website for updates on SLU vs X every so often, and eating dinner, all at the same time. Don't know that there's much more to say. Most of our team didn't show up. Their team all did. Most of our team couldn't hit shots to save their lives. They got too many easy shots, and even their "prayers" went in. Oh, well, at least my daughter (a SLU grad) may get to celebrate tonight.
Regroup guys. A VERY winnable game Saturday.

YOU ARE CORRECT

Don't have a stroke on me now. We go 4-4 on the road in conference, and go 8-0 at home in conference, we are 12-4 in conference and 22-8 overall with good wins against the top 50 in the RPI. Did I miss something? Was this a one game season? Is our season now over because we lost @ St. Joe's. Feel free to jump off the bandwagon. I'm staying on because I believe in this coaching staff.
Relax son.

The math works. But not sure I see 4-4 on the road. 1-2 right now, with away games at X and SLU. If you don't bag one of those, have to sweep Fordham, Duquesne and Richmond. The 8-0 at home seems much more likely than 4-4 on the road.
My gut says 3-5 and 8-0 tops. Downside is 2-6 and 7-1.

Listen to your gut. I like what it has to say. Can't say the same about your downside.

We are OK. One bad half doesn't make or break a season. We still have the most top 50 wins in the country. Winning in the road in conference is tough. Just ask Missouri and W. Virginia which both lost to really bad teams tonight.

I agree with all you points except we don't have the most top 50 wins in the country. Baylor has 7 and we are tied for second with a bunch of other teams at 5 wins. Just looked at the RPI and Xavier is not even considered a top 50 win. They are #51 now.

...and Alabama goes down again to make that win look not as good and hurt our RPI a little more...

X will get in the top 50-count on it. And I'll take second most top 50 in the country any day.

I would be very surprised to have the second most top 50 wins come selection sunday. I don't expect to have as many as UD has today by then.

to me they aren't an NCAA caliber team. We will see, that is why they play the games.

If the Owls are at full strength (which they weren't when we beat them), think they are better than both UD and SJU. But of course none of that conjecture makes a bit of difference when we step on the court.

Sounds like you are using the "eye" test. That Owl team was good enough to beat Duke.
