Creighton Game Thread
Quite possibly the toughest OOC game this year, including Marquette. Let's go UD! Keep Rolling Baby... could 9-0 be right around the corner?!

Some questionable calls early, some by the refs, some by Darnell Dukes.
Is he the only UD basketball alum living in the area?

5-0 Flyers at the first break. Getting in the flow it seems still. Maybe waiting to see how Creighton will push the tempo as they did off the last bucket.

I think they said he carried it. I don't like our set offense. They move w/o the ball much better than we do.

We look like either we had no clue they would press us, or that they have never seen a press at all. They are keeping 2 guys back beyond midcourt, so bring up some guys closer so you have more options to inbound to.

Two words come to mind, and the first one is "cluster".
Wake up, Gregory, they're not bringing a man to guard KH, so clear the backcourt and let LW run off of a KH screen. In bounds. Proceed.

No energy whatsoever.
You win road games by matching the home team and fans intensity. We're at about a 2. We need to be a 1873.

!/2 court offense
Still early in the game and seaon but initial returns are that Gregory still can not coach/recruit a team that can play 1/2 court offense that is worth a crap. Even great defense, athletes and effort will struggle to overcome this inefficiency against good teams!

Good adjustment already on the backdoor cut they try to make. We need to keep them off the outside and force them into paint.

Defense and rebounding looking good, settle down and cut out the stupid (unforced) turnovers!

I don't see much PT for Luke tonight. Unless we're certain that we can get the matchups we need. Guard play from crayton is to fast.

We need a shooter to rise up and help us tonight. Something more than 3's.
If Little is hurt, he needs to come out. He hasn't helped much so far.

Creighton is more than happy to trade giving up an easy bucket off the press just to come back down and drain 3's.

We are getting
hammered. So far, we do not even look like we belong on the court with these guys. This is a old fashioned fanny whippin so far. Our offense looks completely lost. More so that I remember in the recent past. Defense is not going to get it done tonight. We need to score some points. It sure would be nice to have a player that could make a three. Man, watching the stream, even with our homer announcers, is painful!

i know im just a dumb fan, but can someone explain to me why I (and others in the room) can identify a charge thats GOING TO HAPPEN five seconds before it happens because we just barrel into defenders and dont play with our head up and find the open player?
Im even calling charges from HALF COURT that occur under the basket. Once a guy crosses halfcourt I can see us getting a one track mind and running into guys like bowling pins.
Plus why is Williams trying to go 2 on 1 almost 15 feet from the basket?
It really stupefies me.

Their ball movement on offense is incredible. We went from w/in 4 to down by 15.
We will lose more games like this because:
A - we can't shoot
B - we are having trouble defending the 3 with multiple 3pt threats

I'm not advocating an offense centered around one player, but the ball needs to be in the hands of Chris Wright as much as possible.
And........we still need a better point guard. This offense is way out of control, no fluidity whatsoever, and that starts with the point guard.

Too much spectating to win this thing. They got ~10 points by outletting the ball fast and getting up the court while our guys were wondering what happened on the rebound.
We have no half court offense to speak of and when our point guards decide to not play intelligent basketball it hurts us.
Give Creighton credit on their defensive boards. We're getting one look at it and that's it.

disappointing half. Poor defense, hey guys you can't leave Woodfox or Korver. London made a handful of poor decisions on th break.
If they don't defend the perimeter there is no chance.

I thought the D was different this year but we are giving up wide open 3s time and time again. Why would you leave a guy named Korver open for 3s all night?

Paul has tried to go 1 on 2 or 3 twice thus far. One resulted in a bad shot the other was a charge, he looks completely off.

We're really are going to have to want this one to come back. It's still pretty clear to myself that these guys aren't greatly better than we are. It's their court, they are definitely more comfortable than we are. BG is going to have to find a way to get CW more involved this half on offense and on the boards, and we have to play lock down defense. They can't hit everything if we continue to stay in their faces...right?
