One Shining Moment

It's been a long, long time since I have looked forward with so much anticipation to "One Shining Moment" at the conclusion of the national championship. Can't wait to see how many Dayton "shining moments" they show tonight! It was a special season and I suspect most of "Flyer Nation" and the "Flyer Faithful" will have their DVRs running between 11:30 and 12:00 tonight!

Vee's shot and one or two celebrations I can imagine. We'll certainly see Kraft laying on the floor at the end of the game to in one of those "sad" moments of the song.

But yes, can't wait. All we got the last time was London Warren making some wierd sound as he was being introduced.

Agree.

There were some great shots of Flyers against Florida shown on the big screen at the stadium before the start of the two games Saturday.

We could get used to this.

One Shining Moment

I could care less about who wins the NCAA tournament tonight, but I will enjoy looking for multiple clips of the Dayton Flyers during the "One Shining Moment" montage.

Go Flyers!

One Shining Moment

I stayed up for that?

One celebration and one shot of Oliver after the loss? Was there even one Dayton basketball play in there?

No such luck, UD86. All they showed was the Flyer locker room after ONE of our THREE wins, and DMO shedding tears after the Florida loss. THAT WAS IT!!!

They spent more time showing Craft laying on the court after his miss than they did showing ANY Flyer doing ANYTHING on the court. You barely knew we were even in the tournament, let alone in the Elite 8.

I might just send a complaint to CBS about this. Hell, they gave Mercer and SF Austin more "pub" than they gave our guys. Totally and patently unfair.

Over the years, it's possible that Vee's shot will be re-played more often than any other shot from that tournament.

But I hope not. Because the reason it would be is if this is a 'peak' for Dayton. I hope we have plenty more highlights in years to come.

Completely underwhelmed.

But on the plus side, I don't think X, Nova, or Providence were even in the video.

For that matter, neither was St. Joe's, at least not that I could see. And about the only clip I saw of SLU was when Loe caught Hancock with an inadvertent elbow, making the SLU player look like a goon. Maybe it's an anti-Catholic bias?

They had to show that worthless dunk-a-thon instead. I guess that was the NBA/Turner Network effect.

The song is three minutes long. They try and get all 64 teams in. If you're not in the Final Four, you're lucky if you get more than three seconds.

Understandable, but I would have expected to see Vee's game winner over either of the non-basketball snippets.

It is called "One Shining Moment" not "One Shining Highlight Reel." They can't all be plays. You knew that they were gonna show Aaron Craft lying on the floor because that was only the best pic from the whole dang Dance. UD made that overhead shot happen, so the Flyers were in three clips.

Four, if you peeked behind showboating Scottie Wilbeken as he preened off the court after hitting the three at the end of the half against us.

IMHO, that was not one of the better "One Shining Moment" montages..in fact it may have been one of the worst. With seven games going to OT and numerous others decided in the final seconds of play (and so many great film clips to choose from) why the producers would waste time showing kids doing wind sprints, pull-ups and push-ups or Izzo strutting into an arena is mind boggling. While there were a lot better clips of the Flyers that could have been (should have been) included than the ones they showed, we at least got some noticeable air-time...many teams got little to no exposure and that's too bad.

Would have expected a quick shot of Vee's winning bucket. Weak showing for us considering the amount of notoriety we received during those two weeks

I personally do not watch College BB or One Shining Moment for the cheerleaders. I'd prefer more basketball clips as well. The Stanford Cowbeller had his fame and was on late night TV shows...he didn't need to be on imho.

Considering the UD clips that made the cut, even one of DMO hugging his sister would have been more appropriate. Their story was probably 2nd only to Payne and the Princess on the human interest scale.

At least one, since every team in the big dance gets at least one highlight.

NCAA tweeted earlier today Sibert 3 pointer versus Boise State as "but time is short." This will likely be UD's moment.

UD's One Shining Moment highlight odds:

Even - Jordan Sibert hitting the winning three against Boise St.
2:1 - Kendall Pollard blocking Kris Dunn from Providence
5:1 - Scoochie Smith's spin in the lane vs. Oklahoma
40:1 - Darrell Davis hitting a three against Oklahoma
2000:1 - Kendall Pollard airballing a free throw vs. Oklahoma
Off Board - Dyshawn Pierre losing his pants vs. Boise State

I think they'll have Pierre dropping trou. After all the dissing about UD having "home games" and being "the last team to get in", the network bigwigs can't possibly show our "Dayton University Fliers" in a positive light. So Sibert's shot &/or Pollard's block won't make the cut. The powers that be would rather see UD in "One Moon-Shining Moment". That's my vote, and my logic behind it.

The whole night was disappointing. Refs sucked. Coach Ferret Face got an NCAA Championship handed to him. And our Flyers won 2 games in the tournament, but you wouldn't even know we made it from watching "One Tarnished Moment". Just a disgusting night all the way around.

Such a beautiful way to disrespect the Flyers. These boys have to win a few A14 titles before any respect is bestowed upon them unfortunately

Seriously, dayton seems to never get any respect from the media. Just wait until the pre season rankings enfold and we see dayton predicted 5th in the A10!

You may not be aware of this but "One Shinning Moment" is a video montage of the best moments of the NCAA tournament, and in theory features the best plays from teams that won games - it is not an overview of the 2014-15 basketball season or a reward for accomplishments in past seasons. I believe I saw a player from Oregon and they've won 4 Pac10 titles in 100+ years

Yeah, b/c the on-going write-ups, blurbs and press UD got throughout the year and offseason after last year's E8 run was sooo under appreciated... no respect, I tell ya.

C'mon, we even have a thread dedicated to UD's National Publicity not to mention various other threads with great articles about our Flyers.

I'm not talking about last year. I am more talking about this year and yes we did receive some pub but think about how the end of the season 75% of it was whining about us playing at home. I'm just saying we are usually overshadowed by te VCU's and Xavier's of the world and with good reason but I think the tide should begin to change with our recent success but I just don't feel like it is.

I don't think our ncaa committee friends wanted the nation to be reminded again of the 'home court advantage,' otherwise the beginning of the clip may've appropriately started with the First Four. I think there will be every effort to prevent it from happening again. Money-hungry bastages got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

why would a non power conference school who didn't make it out of the first weekend get more than one appearance in one shining moment? Yeah just showing the flags was lame and it should have been Sibert's shot, but whatever

I actually liked the flags. It gave us a much more distinct presence. While it might have been nice to have an actual highlight, the UD brand was much more prominent than many other schools.

There is no evil conspiracy. I am least 67% confident that the Big East ADs did not spend the last 2 weeks successfully lobbying the NCAA to not include clearly Tournament defining UD highlights and instead show flags during One Shining Moment so as to embarrass us.

It's becoming an annual tradition on the Tuesday after the national title game. Going around to all the websites and reading about how ****ed off everyone is at One Shining Moment!

It is difficult to feature all 68 teams in a 2-3 minute tribute. UD's exposure there is not going to make or break the program.

The feature this year seemed to focus much more on the final 2. Kentucky as the prohibitive favorite going into the tournament received much less exposure than what I expected.

How confident are you that the A10 refs weren't behind this obvious and deliberate slight!
