Bucky
So they honored Bucky "The Legend" Bockhorn last night celebrating his 45th year doing the Flyer games. I was surprised to hear he's going to do the VCU game. Perhaps I missed it last night, but I didn't hear anything "official" about this being his final season. Some of Bucky's friends have told me this will be it for Bucky, but I don't believe Bucky or UD has issued a statement. Perhaps Bucky is still on the fence about returning next year on a limited basis.

Knowing Bucky like I do, he doesn't want any attention or a big deal made out of it.

That's what I was figuring. I also assumed that's why they honored him on Wednesday night, because they didn't want the season to go by without doing that knowing that this could very well be it.

Also sure that Bucky didn't want this at RI game as that is Sr. night and he wouldn't want to distract from that.

Am I the only one a little uncomfortable knowing a funeralplanner is close to Bucky??

Only met the man once . . . after the UD-GW game long ago . . . a bunch of us met up with Bucky and some others at a bar at Dupont Circle that advertises it has over 600 types of beer available . . . waitress asks Bucky what he'd like: His answer, if I recall . . . Bud Lite.

Assuming this is Bucky's last year on the radio, I doubt he will be separating too far from the program and I'd bet that there will always be a mic and headset available if he gets the itch to stop by press row.

Maybe Buckys jersey should be the first one hung in Arena when he's done?

I always loved listening to Bucky on the radio, and loved it when he used do the old simulcast on radio and TV. Back in the 80's Bucky was a pretty good TV personality; but I suspect age doesn't always play well on today's TV. Yet, I would rather listen to Bucky than anyone on the Disney cartoon sports channel known as ESPN.
Thanks Bucky for all the memories and fun of listening to Flyer Basketball on the Radio. I always loved it when they would come back from a commercial timeout, and Bucky would say the score with losing team first...."We are back at UD Arena where it is Xavier 56 and the Dayton Flyers 62." Kind of like rounding third and heading for home.
The one time I approached and talked with Bucky, it was like we had been friends forever, a very nice man. No uncomfortable feeling like you sometimes get approaching someone who is known in the public eye. America needs more men like Arlen Dale Bockhorn. Bud lite should make a "Here's To You Bucky" commercial, because they don't make men like you anymore.
