Compare team stats, and the fact that our 3pt rims are larger than in Pittsburgh, and there is the game difference. Both teams shot them well, but we shot and made twice as many. When you got Pollard and Wehrli knocking them down with Sibert on fire---well, there's your spread.
Nice to be home.

I missed the entire game due to my son's tournament game but I'm not letting that prevent me from voting for Pollard. I don't have to see him play to know he's the difference-maker on this team.
If anyone wants to summarize his play tonite, I'm listening.
Thanks!

Pollard looked jagged too often. Not his best for sure. Sibert got the job done.

So you vote at random, without even doing your homework, and give it to the guy who had 5 turn overs? SMH
KP is a difference maker on the team, but tonight he is not in my top 2 or maybe even top 3 for player of the game.
Sibert gets the nod, with KDavis and Pierre both getting a bit of consideration

Sibert was cold-blooded with his shooting tonight. He is a killer when you give him a wide open shot.

The Ohio State transfer all the way. Now if he can duplicate these home performances on the road as well, we're in business...

DP was double teamed from the beginning and JS finally showed the form that's been lacking recently and took up the slack. Everybody did a good job, even KP, in spite of his 5 TOs. Loved that crazy jumper that bounced around and finally went in.
This was such a relief after Saturday's frustration.
I really didn't want VCU to play us after losing to UR for the second time in a season.(hadn't happened since 2001). Now they may be even more out for blood with us on Sat. Oh well! Time to suck it up and win on the road! I just keep remembering that we beat UR and they beat VCU TWICE--anything is possible. D)
Standings are a crazy roller coaster. Will wonders never cease? SJU beat UMass! DAV/ URI was a crapshoot anyway. I'm going to enjoy seeing UD at the top of the 1st place tie, at least for a few more days.

I voted using my Royal intuition, and when I looked at the box score, Pollard's numbers reeked of one thing you can't measure with a stat: intimidation!
Voting for him still was tough based on Sibert's stats, but when it came down to pushing that button, it was Pollard by a nose...errr, I mean, a bulging bicep!

I voted for Sibert simply because his offense was there throughout the game, plus he survived being put in a hammer-lock that would make Hulk Hogan proud...and survived! How that wasn't an intentional foul is beyond me, but I'm sure the officials got the call right! KD, however, jump started the offense with his back-to-back drives early on...not the first time he's done that.

D Jablonski reported in DDN that JS has been nursing sore wrist since Dec. Archie added that, because of this, fatigue, and that he's a 5th year senior, JS may not practice the rest of the season.

If i'm the opposing Coach. I know i have to stop the feed to Pierre somehow - if I have the Personnel to do that. Matchup zone, with the right people, is probably a coaches best weapon against our team.
Tehy also have to key on Sibert, and Davis when he is shooting. WE just have too many (of the 6) weapons and we spread the floor with them and move the ball appropriately.
With Duquesne, Sibert was ineffective and Pollard had issues in second half - so all that left was Pierre. D Davis and Kyle had off days.
If they do shut Sibert down, we have to hope kyle and DD are hitting. And Scooch can't be afraid to take it to the hole or shoot on those days

I also feel that Scoochie isn't playing his best ball the last 3-5 games.
If i'm our Coach i want him taking 2-3 shots in the first 7 minutes, so he can find his shot. He can not shoot much after that, if the gang of DD/Kyle/Sibert are hitting.
If they aren't he needs to become more of a cog in the offense.

The stats do not show that Scoochie is not playing well lately, or the last five games. He is about on his averages, and a little above in pts scored. As you imply Scoochie needs to shoot more. He is our second best three point percentage, and better than Sibert. It is not like he waits for wide open threes. He takes many tough and deep threes. Why he doesn't shoot more and drive more, is a real mystery.

I think he doesn't drive more because he has had some bad luck in drawing fouls when
there is contact. He has been hammered a few times and I think he is a bit gun-shy. He also hasn't shown the best judgement in picking when to go to the rim. Pollard and Kyle invite contact to get to the line, Scooch seems to beg for the foul.

I think this is true, but I also think Scoochie's ballhandling skills are not as refined as they ought to be. Ever watch him put the ball behind his back, even just crossing midcourt? He has a loose handle. I think he fears being picked if he drives the lane. Clearly he's a talented point guard, but I'd really like to see him tighten up that dribble. I think it would serve him well and perhaps make him less gun-shy when it comes to penetration and absorbing contact.

I did not like seeing KP "chew out" JS when the Soph had the ball at the right of the lane in the first half and did not know what to do with it. He looked at JS and reading his lips said, "Move"! Sophe don't do that to the Sr leader. JS patted KP on the back.
