100 Days

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- For those of you keeping score at home, there are 100 days remaining in the college basketball season until “Selection Sunday” arrives. For the Flyers, that means 24 more games, the biggest of which on the UD non-con sked being this Sunday vs. Saint Mary’s. What transpires at 4:00pm EST in Phoenix will go a long way to determine what seed the Red and Blue will see next to their name in 100 days.

That is my only wish: that when all of us wake up on Sunday morning 14 weeks and 2 days from now -- that the Flyers no longer have to worry if their name will be called, but rather when.

Elsewhere in hoopdom:

-- Gotta love Gary Parrish of CBS Sports. He now has UD as #7 in his weekly Top 25 + 1 poll:

-- Joey Brackets was recently asked on Twitter: “Out of Louisville, Kansas, Duke and Kentucky...who has the best chance to win it all?”

His response: Kansas

-- Speaking of “Selection Sunday” Adam Zagoria of Forbes Sports says “Get Ready To Have Your March Madness Bracket Busted Wide Open”:

Question: When did Forbes get into sports?

-- What the NCAA Transfer Portal Is...and Isn’t:

-- IU and NBA star Kent Benson has hit on some hard times:

Former Flyer Terry Ross was a teammate of Benson’s at New Castle (IN) HS.

-- Coupla guys that I have been hooping with at the Birmingham Y recently:

Brandon Cassise who played at BG’s alma mater, Oakland U for the legendary Greg Kampe:

Muhammad Zoure who is suiting up for Oakland CC:

-- What do you do when you lose the biggest game ever? Here is one team’s story:

-- This should be good: a "Jeopardy" prime-time Greatest of All Time tournament on ABC in January featuring James Holzhauer and the long-running quiz show’s two other biggest winners, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter:

— Finally sampled the Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich today and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I have a sneaking suspicion that mine was made in advance. Quite frankly, the A&W chicken club sandwich is much better.

-- Here are a coupla items to get you in the Christmas spirit:

Glengarry Glen Christmas: Elf Motivation from SNL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_vSirIJEsY

-- “The Sweet Tweet of the Week” comes to us from Mr. George Wallace:

“Shout out to the top 5 hoods in the world, Robin, Little Red Riding, child, Boyz N the, and Mister Rogers' Neighbor.”

SWAMPY: I’m surprised you didn’t mention your Great Niece Maddy Meadows scored 9 points in one quarter in a high school game vs St. Laurence HS in Chicago. And her little brother Nolan Meadows scored 16 of his team’s 22 points in a sixth grade game for Alphonsus Academy in Chicago.
