We were flat in January and have won five in a row in Conference. This is what we asked for in a coach. Better A10 play!
Still some work to do. But I 'd rather be peaking late February than swan songing it as in..... the past ten years!

Nice win.
Love how the team regrouped and got back to the game plan. Also loved how they didn't fold when LaSalle nearly tied the game. Finally, really liked Oliver's aggressiveness late in the game to get the hoop instead of playing keep away.

Great team effort tonight. Flyers got a lot of loose balls. The Arena (and the student section) sounded good. Kavs is suddenly Kareem-Abdul Jabbar. Hahaha. Keep the momentum going baby!

Some good signs and "trending" as Pete Gillen just said on telly just now.
Sibert
Kavs and Vee
Price just doesn't have it. Focusing on Defense of course. Just not getting offense out of him. Jalen even more poorly on offense again.
I would like to see more Scooch but i'll let Arch make the moves
DMO and Sibert and Kavs all very solid. Always need solid numbers from 3 or 4 guys on this squad. And we certainly got it tonight.
Played tight the first 13 minutes of the game, then got it together. Good to see the passion , ball movement and defense.

Kav was the man out there today. He flat out outplayed their two big guys. Oliver woke up and put up 14 and 12 with 5 dishes. and Sibert with 5 huge threes.
And only 2 turnovers in the 2nd half, may have won the game.

Loose balls was a key factor tonight. More effort and desire than in the losing streak 6 games ago. Playing with urgency and musta got 70 % or more of 50-50 balls.
Explorers somewhat weak on rebounding and in bench strength. Their big guy Wright was good on the offensive glass and down low. Aside from that -not the strongest of teams, but they made their couple of runs to make us work for it. WE need to take our effort points into ST Joe's game!

In the 2008-09 season, we won 7 straight to go from 0-1 to 7-1.
This is only the 5th time we have won 5 in a row in the A10.
- 2002-03 - Start the season 8-0
- 2003-04 - Start the season 9-0
- 2004-05 - Go from 0-1 to 5-1
- 2008-09 - Go from 0-1 to 7-1
- 2013-14 - Go from 1-5 to 6-5

My wife came home right around the 17-7 mark of the game. I told here, the abomination of the X game saved me from sitting thru a terrible first 8 minutes of that game. Can't say much about the start, but from that point on, they played very well, both on the offensive end (save about the typical 5 minute stretch in the 2nd half) and on the defensive end. Very active on both sides of the court. Play like that for the remaining 200 minutes of the season and they'll find themselves in the NCAA field. When this team moves both the ball and themselves (when they don't have the ball in their hand) they're incredibly hard to stop w/ all of the slashers and good outside shooters they have.
As far as the X game, the last 10 minutes and change game timetook just shy of 40 minutes of real time to complete. Keep in mind, during this stretch, I don't believe Xavier's lead ever fell below 16 points during this stretch. It was just brutal to watch, and most of the fault falls on the officials, they were calling a bunch of ticky-tack fouls. Heck, X shot 4 free throws in the last 45 secs of game time w/ the walk ons in and a 20 point lead. Obviously the refs didn't have reservations anywhere that evening.

That would be February 24, 2010, when we had 6 points at the 8minute mark of the first half. We went on to lose that game 49-41.
Also November 28, 2007, 7 points versus Miami (Ohio), and UD won 63-62. This was the Brian Roberts 3 with 5 seconds to go to give UD their first lead of the game.
Also March 12, 2009, 7 points versus Richmond, and UD won 69-64.
That's it from the 2007-08 until now where we had 9 or less points at the 8 minute mark of the first half.

The quietest seven points ever!
". . . Matt Kavanaugh added 16 and Kendall Pollard had seven. . ."
http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400506017
And to think Pollard did all that in one minute! If he played a full 40 minutes that would project to . . . mmmm . . . a 280 point game!
On the other hand, I don't know what happened to Vee Sanford . . .

For this game he surely proved otherwise, THANK GOD. But let's not forget that a few games ago many folks on here were blasting him for not stepping up to provide the kind of leadership that is needed from a senior. In fact, didn't someone either start a thread or mention in a DMO thread about how good he is when he makes his first shot and how bad he can be if he misses? Bottom line is that I didn't pull that comment out of my fifth point of contact. There has been some truth to what I said in the past!
I give the kid a ton of credit for being ca$h the last few games. And, my comment clearly worked because right after I posted this DMO stepped up his game!!
Overall, it seems like he is staying aggressive, taking good shots within the flow, and he continues to work his tail off. I'd still like to see him MAKE LAYUPS (he seems to miss an easy one or two each game) and I'd like to see him be more consistent on defense (he got beat on an inbounds play last time and again on Wednesday on easy plays in which he just lost focus).
As DMO goes, so go the Flyers!
PS: Glad all the people who blasted me and called me crazy for thinking this team would win more than 4-5 A-10 games (in the thread I started about jumping off the ship after UD lost the first couple of conference games) are starting to come back aboard.

Don't know how much time was left when we hit double digits. I am watching #7 Cincy and #11 Louisville now- 3:35 on the clock when Cincy went to double digits.
