Payback Time
Senior Nights ruined by the fictional characters known as Billikens.
3/6/2010: Instead of the NCAA we win the NIT...
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaab...-2009-e.45554/
3/2/2011 Gregory's last year...
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaab...-2010-e.50949/
Time to pay these guys back on their senior night.
Maybe, just maybe we've found a new rival. I could learn to dislike these guys as much as Xavier over time.
On a brighter note - We've won our last 2 senior nights against GW and SBU.

Devin Oliver...
After an 0-12 in game one, I hope our Senior is ready to prove his last performance was a fluke.
And for his sake, I hope he hits his first shot.

Come on Rollo, there may be lots of guys to call out, but DMO is the heart and soul of this team. If we win at STL it is because of him. If we lose it is in spite of him.

After the first St. L game, I would bet that Devin circled Wednesday's date on his calendar, which is why I named him specifically. No offense intended toward Oliver...none.
Motivation...yes. Nothing else.

Both of these games are payback for Oliver. He was equally a non-factor at Richmond with a 1-6 and 2 boards.

Regardless of outcomes the rest of the way, I just have to say that I am really going to miss Oliver. He has, over the past three seasons, become my favorite player. One who presents himself with class on and off the court, and maintains a high level of effort game in and game out. This year, he is the heart and soul of this team and he is going to be sorely missed next season.
Oliver represents everything good about being a Dayton Flyer. He'll always be highly regarded in my book, and will never be forgotten.
Flyers, go get him that NCAA appearance he so deserves!! I think he'll shine.

JimBo I agree 100%. He has taken his share of punches from some of the fans (including me) concerning his shot selection, his role on the team, and his leadership abilities (especially the first three years). Having said that, DO has become the heart and sole of this team and has stepped into the senior leader role that UD has sorely missed for a long, long time. He is a classy kid who represents the U well and I hope he gets a chance to make some noise on the big stage.
FWIW, I am also impressed with how VS and MK have stepped up during A-10 play and I realize that those guys are also contributing BIG TIME to UD's success. But DO is definitely the leader of the leaders.

A10 Recognition
Speaking of DMO...and others, on Archie's radio show from Frickers Larry provided an "editorial" on the travesty that no Flyer has been recognized for A10 weekly honors during the season. NONE. This includes the entire season (Maui, Ole Miss, etc). Called out the A10 big time, and rightfully so, saying they focus on the one glitzy stat line each week vs what a player might've done to help his team win a big game. Archie then chimed in that (paraphrasing) in his mind DMO is the most improved player in the A10, with no one being a close second.
All that being said, I'm preparing myself for no Flyers to be on any three all-A10 teams. Don't agree with it, but given the drooling over STL, VCU, UMass, and even GW and Richmond, I'm not real optimistic.

Do the selections take place after the regular season, before the A10 tourney? If so, it would be a shame to have no Flyers selected but a very large chip to take into Brooklyn.

I believe they are prior to the tournament and given out at the banquet that precedes the tourney. The women's were announced today (prior to their tournament.

Unfortunately we are playing the billy goats at a bad time. They have lost 2 games in a row and it's senior night with 5 seniors Also, the two teams they lost to have played zone and clogged up the middle which we won't do.
I'm looking at the Richmond game as payback for our seniors. Going 1-1 means we will have to win two games in the tourney to have a chance. .
Lastly, DMO has been a class act from the day he delivered my season tickets his freshman year to now. I am proud of the effort and heart he has shown

Bingo..........UD hangs around awhile, lead goes back up to 12-13, UD slices it to 7-8, and St. Louis destroys our D and wins by 13..
