St. John’s, Georgetown, N.C. State, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Penn State and UMass have all offered. Does any school stand out to him right now?
“Not at the moment,” he said.
Carter, who scored 15.8 points per game in Hampton, is keeping reclassification to 2018 and prep school in his back pocket, and is taking his time to make sure he lands at the right school. Reuniting with Miller at Indiana in 2018 may also be an option

Looking ahead, should we be seeing lots of campus visits? Maybe they already have had some in? It seems that expecting commitments at this point is putting the cart before the horse?

2017 F Obadiah Toppin just got done with an official. Wright State transfer Mark Alstork has had one too. Those are the only two I know of
I believe in the past we've gotten commitments with folks visiting campus but that's much more prevalent at big schools

Can anyone sum up who all we have our claws in at the moment?
Crutcher, Carter, Alstork, Waters (maybe, see other thread), Toppin, Svoboda, any others?
Alstork would be a true transfer and have to sit out a year correct?

Alstork is a grad transfer...would be eligible next year. I'd consider Carter and Waters as "not going to happen" along w/ Svoboda. There was another transfer that visited last week but the info is on the Rivals site and they don't like when people share that information. Could be on the Pride Plus here as well..not sure. High level transfer though...would be a great get!

Svoboda in a Jablonski article a week or two ago said he hasn't heard from Dayton. That one is done it sounds like
Waters is a pipe dream
Carter trending away from Dayton. Don't think there's much chance he comes here
Alstork is a grad transfer & eligible immediately

Thanks for the info on Alstork, his ESPN profile must have some incorrect info.
Sounds like getting him and Crutcher would solve our PG dilemma at least for the time being. I hope this happens.

A co-worker and Wright State season ticket holder came to my office last week to tell me UD should be running from Alstork...he's nothing but trouble on the court. Selfish, uncoachable and - more importantly - NOT a true point guard.

Dayton really could use a playmaker / guy who can create for himself and others next year..
Who on the roster currently can go get a bucket or create for others? Maybe Kostas? Alstork seems to be the only guy we are remotely in on that can fill this role immediately.

Brian Roberts wasn't a true PG, but I'd take him. A true pass-first PG would be great to have but Dayton just needs a quality PG of any variety and asking for a particular style of PG, is asking a bit much in my opinion. Keep in mind that Dayton also has a need for a dynamic scorer in the backcourt as Scoochie and Cooke were the only guards Dayton had who really created offense. Jordan Davis should develop into that guy, but he is a freshman. So Alstork represents two things Dayton needs - a dynamic scoring guard and a guy who can play PG better than any guy we've got on the roster. On the court character concerns are definitely worth sifting through, but if ever there were a year to take a chance on a guy like that, it's this year as a one year rental in my opinion. It's not like he can really screw things up long term. If Alstork is a minor headache, you take him. If he's a migraine, then okay, pass.
As I doubt very much Alstork is coming to Dayton, the point is moot, but my guess is that if he did, it would look something like Kevin Dillard's senior year. Probably tries to do too much. Wins you some ballgames; loses you some ballgames. But I'll take my chances in crunch time with a guy like getting you a bucket when you need it vs. other current options.

Before his UD career is over hopefully Kostas. He has the size and potential to be unstoppable. But wishful thinking and probably too ambitious to expect next year. Agree with your assessment on Alstork, but I do really like what I've seen in highlights of Jalen Crutchner if Dayton can land him. Crafty player. He's got some Scoochie in his game.

I have a hunch one of our spots for next year will get filled by a player who's not currently listed as 2017, but is about to reclassify. Just a hunch.

Crutcher? Or someone else?
Only other guy who fits that description I'm aware of is Eric Ayala, who Dayton was in on at one point under Archie, but everyone things he is headed to Syracuse.

Crutcher is a 2017 guy who said he was going to prep school next when McCall left
Reclassify would be a 2018 guy moving down but that doesn't happen from what I've seen with the level of guys Dayton recruits

Well, if you were class of 2017, but re-classed to 2018, then wouldn't it be a re-class if you went back to 2017?
April 12, 2017
@Jalen_NoRose1
I just got done speaking with my family and I decided to reclassify to the class of 2018 and undecided what prep school I'm going to!
Verbal Commits has him listed as class of 2018: http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jalen-crutcher
Most other places still list him as 2017.

if you're already in the 2017 class & you decide to stay in it did you really reclassify
I guess I read reclassification as actually going through with the act

Yes he was pretty much all of that from a couple of sources but things seem to have a way of working out when a player is fighting for a legit chance for a professional career. Part of it can be the rebelling from a coach as personalities, etc. don't click. Right or wrong here, not all kids handle things the same way or even the correct way.
I believe he tested the NBA waters here and was told to get back in school and improve your ball-handling, leadership, and defense. He's on his 3rd school and there ain't no looking back if this one ain't a fit.

OH NO, i was told in another thread Tremont Waters was NOT to be talked about. Better be careful, you'll get scolded too. Everyone is at each other's throats and this board has devolved into a bash fest. Everything is an argument now. We need new news bad.

Another undecided PG from the state of Florida for 2017, Kaleb 'KJ' Fitzgerald, 6'0" 155lb, from Cardinal Newman HS in West Palm Beach has five offers, Chattanooga, N.C. Greensboro,San Francisco, South Florida and TCU with interest from Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Kansas St. and UCF.
This kid is shifty and reminds me of Scoochie although there may never be another Scoochie because we all loved him so much and he will be dearly missed. I hope Anthony Grant is taking his time finding a point guard because he knows how valuable Scoochie Smith was for 4 years and how high he set the bar!

I have checked his site occasionally for years, but it had been awhile until you posted this link earlier today. Good site
I noticed he still had Svoboda and Carter listed as Flyer commits as of April 30. In the past this site has been very accurate and updated regularly, but I wondered why these two were still listed as being Flyers given the prior reports on both. Well half that question has been answered now with the Svoboda commitment, but now I am wondering if just maybe John Huston knows something about Carter that the rest of us are hoping to hear? Yea, I know, overly optimistic on my part.

It's also a violation to do so if you went to UD, have a kid that went to UD or are/have ever been a season ticket holder/donor.

Quick search of the intrawebs shows a kid that averaged 36 ppg as a senior, won state and has offers from ECU, Nebraska & Kansas State, among others with interest from Virginia, Clemson and Providence among others. Nebraska board claims he's a 3 start on rivals, not rated on the other services.

Maye took an official visit to Nebraska during their spring football game. They got a top 100 guard, Thomas Allen, on board so maybe they backed off
Supposedly Maye is a great scorer

36 points! We will take 3.6 if he can dribble and distribute and play defense.
Sounds like someone who blew up his Sr year and did not get attention until late?

"Farmville’s unquestioned ace is Maye, who gets substantial elevation on his shot due to his strong legs. He also shoots from almost above his head, which makes Maye’s attempts nearly impossible to block."

Here are 3 minutes of video on Maye. Said to be an average passer, average dribbler, great hops, excellent quickness and excellent shooter. Defense... unknown. Reminds me of some of the Dukies' and Bonnies' guards. We have not had a shooter since Roberts. This guy would be nice to have.

He might get a ribbon for the most innovative ways to finish a shot. Nice touch and hops. Clearly he needs to eat well to fill out the frame. Nice stroke. Nice player.

4 star point guard (combo skills) currently in 2018 class now looking to reclassify. Many think he's 5-star talent but his competition is low and no AAU circuit.
One scout described him as "Pete Maravich with better decision making."
His name is Marty Finch (Sidd's youngest). Of note, Sidd and AG are tight. Word is Sidd has been behind the scenes at VCU, Bama, and OKC games & practices over the past few years.
Marty's favorite players are Russell Westbrook and Giannis.
Not saying done deal, but...

Not a terrible idea to start floating fictitious PG names since VCU coaches are over there trying to copy our every move there and vice versa probably. We're getting a little desperate now, fighting over the same table scraps it seems!

Ya know, it will be competitive. But this will tell us something about our leader. Any good player is going to attract attention. Can we close when we have him on campus? Anybody can make an offer. Can we reel him in?
I think this could be a big weekend. Or not.

While fellow priders are throwing names out there I have a couple of JUCO point guards that are still undecided. The first one is very interesting because Brian Gregory is the new coach at the University of South Florida and Ricardo Freeman asked for and received his release from the Bulls in a similar situation that McKinley Wright did from UD. Freeman is 6'2" 198lbs and possesses both skills at getting to the basket and shooting the three ball.
Speaking of shooting from three point land, the second JUCO point guard I will mention is from Vincennes Junior college, the same school that produced former NBA star Shawn Marion. Chris Darrington is a 6'3" PG who is from Ohio and went to Toledo Scott high school where he averaged 24ppg for his career there. There are many you tube videos on Darrington at Vincennes if anyone wants to check him out! Granted, not much defense is played at the Junior college level but I think this kid could be a real asset for the Flyers.

Probably will end up going to Toledo. Maybe we should have shown interest in him earlier. Then again, I think he may be more of a 2 guard than a point guard.
Oh well, maybe we should just keep our hopes up for either Jalen Crutcher or Tyler Maye. Both are excellent!

Out of left field sleeper: Marcus Shaver Jr, PG out of Phoenix who was a UC Santa Barbara commit that got his release due to a coaching change. Future Director of Basketball Ops Andy Farrell is now keeping tabs on the kid so he seems to be on the radar. Picked up an offer from Fordham as well the other day so may be open to playing very far from home in the A10.

We sure seem to really be honed in on the Tennessee / Mississippi border. Dayton may be in on every 2017 PG in the greater Memphis metro!

Vincennes U So. G Chris Darrington has narrowed his recruitment down to Tennessee, Memphis, Toledo and Pitt. Deciding on Thurs @ 3pm

Darrington chose Tennessee as Rick Barnes told him he needed a Batman that could score late in the shot clock. Shows you what I know because I guessed his home town team Toledo!
Confident that AG and his staff will get a good PG. I like all the ones we have offered! I think it is crazy that the John Crosby leaving thread is going viral! I haven't posted to that thread because it won't make a difference to me one way or the other if he comes back!

Very little information on the internet regarding Gordon IMO.

Yet another very intriguing guard prospect came open when Northern Arizona released Horn Lake PG Jitaurious Gordon from his NLI recently.
Gordon is a 6'1” guard who averaged 25.5 ppg as a junior and 26.2 as a senior at Horn Lake (MS) High. Though he is not rated nationally, he often elicits comparisons to Jarkel Joiner, the senior guard who averaged 36.4 ppg this season at Oxford (MS) High to rank #4 in the country in scoring.
Gordon has flown under the radar for much of his career but is a tough, defensive minded PG who can get into the paint at will where he finishes exceptionally or drops the dime to a teammate. His career-high point total in a game is 49 (versus Southaven) while his second-best total is 48 (Olive Branch).
Gordon's high school coach, Tori Harris, thinks his point guard would be overjoyed by a Memphis offer.
“Jitaurious would be so proud that Memphis even called him,” Harris began. “He's such a humble kid and that would be like a dream come true. He's just a guy trying to get out of Tunica, MS and would be honored to even get an offer from Memphis.”
Though there is no timetable yet for a visit to Memphis, Harris is ready to make it happen.
“I'll do everything I can to get him up there on campus if they want us there!”

Tunica is rough. Casinos have pumped enough money in so it's no longer "America's Ethiopia" but look up Sugar Ditch Alley, a Tunica slum that was located along a sewage-filled ditch. It was once as bad as any in the world. You can watch this infamous 60 minutes clip from the mid-80's if you really want to be appalled.

Whether he comes to Dayton, goes to Memphis, or wherever, I hope he's able to use his basketball abilities to get the heck out of there.

Sounds like he is high on Memphis.
He has no page on verbalcommits, Rivals, Scout, ESPN, or 247sports...very odd IMO.
