Thoughts from last night

Problem isn't just that LW can't shoot from 10 feet ... Kurt, Devin and Charles can't either and when you get combinations of those guys out there the Flyers get very easy to defend.

I am not down on the freshmen at all. They do need to get over their sea legs quickly because they have skills this team needs.

If Mickey can't consistently make perimeter shots his PT is going to dry up. after the exhibition games my prediction was Thomas and Perry would eventually fall out of the rotation.

BG is really going to have to spend some time finding the player combinations that work well together.

A lot of people had predicted that Devin would cut in Kurt's PT and maybe take his starting position ... that one is not going to happen.

If Luke can defend well enough he could take a lot of minutes away from Charles. CHarles just doesn't do enough out there(at either end of the floor) to justify all the minutes.

Until this teams gets the right player groupings and finds a couple more guys to make perimeter jump shots they will struggle in their half court sets.

At the 12:30 mark of the 2nd half, we were trailing by 3, 4 or 5, can't recall, and the offensive team we had on the court had a combined 5 pts. That late into a game that you're trailing, either Marcus Johnson or Chris Wright has to be on the floor. No excuses.

In fact, I'll be so bold as to state that at any given time in any game, Marcus or Chris has to be on the floor. Why would you sit - at the same time - the only two players you have that cause match-up problems?

OY!

Exclamation Oh boy.

I guess we really showed Wofford didn't we?

A few myths were shattered last night.

Who is going to be our go-to guys? It better be Chris Wright or Marcus.

Freshman starters? Go with upperclassmen and nurture the kids.

Little's breakout year? Not likely.

Are we really going to run this year? Can't run if you can't rebound. No excuse for this one.

Free throws? Too early to tell.

Vote for this year's "x" factor? My vote didn't show up--the bench.

I am so thankful that we won and did not start with an indelibly bad loss.

Substitutions? OMG, what are we doing?

Ironically this close loss told us more than we ever could have hoped to discover in a 30 point blow-out.
I'm not down on the team, but this close win should have our feet firmly planted on the ground of reality with plenty to work on.

Bring on Delaware.

In the last minute of the game Lowery did two things Warren cannot do. Make a jumper and make two free throws.

Yes, it's hard not to like his moxy. But candidly, he was 0-5 when he took that last shot and I found myself thinking "oh no". And he was 1-2 from the line when he stepped up and knocked down the last two freethrows.

Clutch players are born this way so maybe we are on to something. Can't argue with his willingness to take the big shot.

At 2 different points in the second half we were trying to get the ball into the KH in the post with LW at the top of the key and CL on the wing trying to make the entry pass. We wasted 10+ seconds of the shot clock trying to make this work.

1. Hey coach, why would CL ever be making an entry pass from the wing??

2. Hey coach, do we understand that Wofford was sagging into the post to being with, but with those 2 on the same side of the court it's 0 on 3 instead of 3 on 3?

3. Hey London, get your head out of your point-guarding-rear-end and understand when it's time to back it out and reset the offense.

4. As a general rule, CL and LW should be on opposite line changes.
