WOTS

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- WOTS is not just a radio station in Kissimmee, FL. As most of you are well aware it’s also an acronym for “word on the street.” Start talkin’ street:

-- The name heard most on Edwin Moses Boulevard these days is that of 2008 Illinois Mr. Basketball Kevin Dillard, late of the SIU Salukis. Dillard is a kid that BG recruited pretty heavily out of HS. He was waiting on offers from the Big Boys and when those didn’t materialize, BG and UD had moved on and he ended up in Carbondale. I’ve always relied on ChicagoHoops.com for my Windy City intel. Here is a list of every thread that mentions KD on their MB:

http://forums.chicagohoops.com/searc...&submit=Search

As with any MB, you have to take what posters have to say about the kid with a large measure of sodium chloride. Dillard would have to sit out a season and will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

-- I don’t subscribe to Scout.com, but check out the preview of this article from them about Kevin Dillard:

Seriously, who talks or writes like that? The author obviously had his well-worn thesaurus open when he meticulously crafted that piece.

-- A kid whose street cred is asplodin’ this Spring who has UD on his list is Indiana big man Mitch McGary:

-- We all know that UD recruiting target Jamie Crockett of Chicago became OP’s first verbal at DePaul. ChicagoHoops.com has details on his 2nd commit, a kid named Cleveland Melvin from my alma mater, Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA:

-- The Indy Star weighs in with some news on Wayne HS SG Travis Trice and his recruitment:

-- One-time UD target Isaiah Sykes from Detroit is headed south to play his college ball for UCF:

-- OHSH.com with a look ahead to the 2010-2011 HS hoops season and some players to watch, including UD targets Jakarr Sampson, Anton Grady, Traevon Jackson and the aforementioned Travis Trice:

-- UD got some major support in its effort to continue hosting the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament from an unlikely source -- OSU AD Gene Smith:

-- Think playing hoops overseas is glamorous? Not so much, according to former SBU and WVU sharpshooter Mike Gansey:

-- The New York Times with a profile of the Mac Irvin Fire AAU team out of Chicago:

-- Coach Cal recruit Brandon Knight may have started a trend by not signing an LOI with UK:

-- Arch in the DDN asks a very good question: is this sportsmanship?

-- Since my post on the UD Pride MB about the Cavs/Celts series was such a big hit, here is ESPN.com’s Bill Simmons and his review of games 5 and 6:

For those of you keeping score at home, tirebiter is quoting from the "Swampmaster" article which is linked to in the column.
