Friday the 13th

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- The Annual Bernadette McGlade Brooklyn Hoopsfest is on at the Barclays Center. THE University of Dayton Flyers will not make their first appearance until 6:30 PM on Friday the 13th on the NBC Sports Network. Thanks to the elusive (at least for UD) double-bye, the team that needs rest more than any other A-10 squad will get exactly that. Conventional wisdom says if UD wins vs. the SJU/SBU survivor, they are in the Field of 68; lose and the Flyer Faithful have to once again sweat it out on Selection Sunday.

Here's to a perspiration-free Sabbath!

"From the Swamp" has all the links you will need to kill time until Friday night rolls around:

-- Not that the Flyer Faithful need much to get them pumped for Friday's tilt, but the "Top Ten UDunks" from this season can only help:

-- The Dayton Daily News has launched a constantly updated hoops page called "Right Now":

-- Ken Pomeroy provides an A-10 Tourney preview, with UD having a 21% chance to haul home the hardware:

-- When it comes to the Field of 68, Jerry Palm at CBS Sports reminds us what data is relevant and what isn't:

-- Let's hope the zebras don't allow nonsense like this to be called in Brooklyn this weekend, now with linky video flopness:

-- First, ESPN had announcers sitting in a studio in Bristol remote announcing games on ESPNU; now the AP has decided to use software to post NCAA game stories:

Coming next: robot basketball players!

-- Great piece from USA Today on ESPN's Jay Bilas and his penchant for Nike sneakers and Young Jeezy lyrics:

-- Normally wouldn't give the Rutgers/Minnesota 1st round game in the Big 10 Conference Tournament in Chicago the time of day, but when my daughter is courtside as the doctor on duty, yeah, I'll watch.

-- Nice longform piece from Sports Illustrated on the Maine Frost Heaves of the ABA -- written by the owner:
