As Bill Cosby use to tell his son, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out"!! I brought the UD-WSU MLKDay idea/discussion into the world.....and if it is ever mentioned on this board again, someone else will have to bring it up.
In the most recent discussion there were some 800+ reads but only 30 or so replies. So that tells me most folks don't give a sh*t or have no opinion. A few of those 30 agree with what I've been saying, but most don't. So, Piqua, give it up.
A few parting thoughts. The anti-MLKDay argument that holds no water is that a game in late January would interfere with the conference schedule. I direct your attention to the Big 12/SEC Challenge that was played last Saturday. Also, the anti-MLKing Day opinion that this year the game would have fallen between the Friday nite game in St. Louis and the Wed home game vs the Bonnies is bogus. Duh! You think the A-10, glad to have some national exposure, could work that out?!
IMHO it comes down to whether or not you think UD and WSU should meet on the hardwood, period. I think they should, if not on MLKing Day, but each season.
Only the two schools administration know why they don't. Is it that UD insists on a one year contract with the game at UD? Or, WSU wants a home and home, two year contract? Who knows. Whatever, the two ADs should work it out.
President Spina speaks of UD in the terms of being "part of the community". I LOVE HIS PHILOSOPHY!! Seem like such a game would be quite the community event to me. WSU should agree to whatever UD proposes. Play the Flyers at "Main and Third Street on the 4th of July" - if you must. But, being the "lesser" program as far as national rankings/ratings are concerned, WSU must get their foot in the door, somehow, somewhere. Just as the Flyers have to travel to Maui, Phoenix and Chicago to play opponents who wont come to the UD Arena, WSU must make the concessions.
That's it for the UD-WSU game discussion. No more comment from Piqua until the game(s) are scheduled in the future and I'll return to say, "Told you so"
GO FLYERS! THIS SEASON IS JUST RIGHT DOWN AWESOME FOR ALL OF US HERE ON UDPRIDE!!!
Best wishes to all,
