I could be wrong, but I think we’re only locked into third if Duquesne loses tonight. Second requires Davidson to lose its last game and Dayton to win in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

That’s what I think. At this point we only can be 2 or 3. Guaranteed double bye but no 1 or 4

Royal shout-out to the ref who stopped play so Cunningham could get the ovation he deserved.

Jordan Davis made 2 TOs in the first 2:30 of the 2nd half, got benched and didn't see the court again. Grant's message better be taken seriously or he's going to get to know Frankie a lot more than he wants.

Do you know this ref personally, and that is why you're giving the shout out? Because I saw the ref look at Grant with eyes that said, "Dude, the ball is in play, coaches cannot call timeouts, I'll wait for one of your players on the court to call the timeout." At which point, one of our players calls the timeout.

From my Royal angle, the ref blew the whistle, made a clockwise rotation with his hand (meaning it's not a timeout but a courtesy substitution), Josh was subbed out and play resumed. I never saw anyone request a timeout.
The stat sheet says '30 sec timeout team' but again, I didn't see one called nor did the ref use the proper mechanic to the table to indicate a 30-sec TO was called, so I'm assuming - based on visuals - that Grant asked to stop play so Josh could come out and the ref obliged. Coaches have asked me to do the same thing and I've done it, and never give the TO sign to avoid the other team actually insisting to use the TO as they are allowed.

I'll have to bring binoculars to the next Royal Roundtable, because you totally missed Grant wanting a timeout, the ref waiting for an on-court player to call it (NCAA rule for a couple years, no?) and granting the substritution timeout. This is not the first time Grant's done that this year, but it's not like the ref went out of his way to stop the clock so Cunningham could get the standing ovation. It was Grant that wanted it, the ref had to wait for the player, and then it occurred. No "shout out" to the ref is needed.
It would have been cooler if Grant told Cunningham to call the timeout as they crossed halfcourt.
So, shout out to Anthony Grant for allowing Cunningham to have a curtain call.

Go to Facebook.
Search: Dayton Flyers Basketball - it will take you to their page where there are over 140 pics from last night, including a close up of Josh/the shirt while standing for the national anthem

Just watched the replay on ESPN app. and it definitely appears that after AG asked the ref for the time out the ref looked at the player (can't remember if Crutcher or Cohill) and even motioned his arm toward the player as if to say you need to call this timeout. Timeout then granted as a substitution timeout that still counts against UD as a timeout used, Josh came out of game for well deserved hugs and everyone was happy.
