The Matt McCall angle is such an anomaly this year, that it doesn't get the attention it deserves. Not even in this article as it left off the fact Chatman also signed on to play for him.
Think about it. Coach gets hired to bigger, better basketball school and conference. 2 guards that were going to play for him in smaller, worse conference transfer to his new conference and wind up starters for an opposing team that's running away in that conference and ranked 5th in the country.

He actually already had Chatman at Chattanooga for a year. Also his name was being mentioned for our job when it was known that AM was probably going to leave. Thankfully we got the right guy...trust me.

I agree. And yes Chatman did play for McCall his freshman season. My point is what should've been Chattanooga and McCall's backcourt, today is now Dayton's. If you told me leaving out names, that coach recruited back court, moved to more prestigious university in more prestigious conference and his back court moved on to that same conference with different team, I would expect the Coach'es new team to be more successful than the players' new team. In general because after all, they were recruited into lesser conference and when coach moves to bigger, better conference, he's expected to be able to get higher quality recruits.
Irony is my point and it's a great story. Well, for us, not necessarily UMass or Chattanooga.
