St Joes
Beats URI by 30 AT URI. Wow...your NCAA bracket this year will be the hardest yet to predict. No one is dominant

URI shot 10.3 % from 3 pt range, something like 3 - 29, while St Joes shot over 60% from 3 pt range...

Rhode Island it was due for a bad loss. Better now than in the NCAA tournament.

Hangover after winning conference. All you have to do is go back a year and see this with our team. Of course, ours never snapped out of it so you never know.

For those who were poo pooing the Flyer performance in the second half. We now see how much the Flyers were able to take out of the Rhodies. They probably have forced the Rams to play on empty for the rest of the regular season.

Don’t think it is just sour grapes… RI is obviously a very very physical team. They hack the crap out of the opponent on every possession, but the refs refuse to call ALL the fouls…. Even down 30 it was still obvious…. to the Hawk’s credit, they elevated their play to the level the refs sunk too….
Found it humorous that the first possession after halftime RI got called for 2 consecutive blatant fouls way away from the basket…. but they never slowed down…. flailed .. hit.. grabbed… hip checked into players…. all night long. That is their advantage against physically challenged teams like us. Not sure they will have that advantage in the big dance… I guess we will see.
Good game by St Joe’s

Made a comment in the game thread last Friday about leaving the starters in down the stretch with a 4-touchdown lead over our Flyers. Said Hurley was asking for a season-ending injury to one of his starters. Better for them that they ONLY suffered a humiliating beat-down at the hands of Martelli's Hawks.

That's the old Georgetown Hoya MO from the 1980s. " They can't call everything, so let's see how much we can get away with." That's why the BE back then experimented with the 6-foul rule in conference play - because every team started playing "the Hoya way", and stars/starters were fouling-out left & right. Eventually, they realized that cleaning it up a little (if only a little) was the better way to go.
