Selection show

Has anyone heard if the public is invited to watch the show with the team. The university did it several years ago.

There has been no mention for the men and I believe that it will be private. The women are having one Monday night at the TW Deck. http://daytonflyers.com/news/2014/3/...310143612.aspx

I think David Jablonski of the DDN said the team will view the show in private.

I'm glad it's private. I believe it will be a celebration but if for some reason UD gets hosed I think Devin has earned the right to not have a camera shoved in his face as he would deal with that.

I have watched selection shows where teams were in their coach's home. but the camera was there. I agree with you though, I hope Archie declines the cameras.

I think it's time to revisit the Marquette board - and ask them "how's that NIT thing workin' for ya?"

Marquette was really bad this year. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to watch that continue.

Why?
Had 8 years in a row of Dance Bids until this year. A Coach that, if you are unaware, holds a basketball camp for autistic kids, had it written into his contract
that it would always exist ON CAMPUS as long as he was the coach (look it up on Google, Buzz Williams, terrific story about one man making a difference in so
many lives year after year). You really need another outlet for a greater pleasure

Simply because their self image >> reality, especially now that they are not propped up by heavyweight programs in their league. I don't know much about the summer camps of various coaches around the NCAA and it does not factor into my impression of the programs as a whole. I hope Buzz continues to do wonderful work with autistic kids as the Marquette basketball program crashes and burns around him.

Good for Buzz...I am glad that he does that. I still hope they lose every game except when they play X.

On Archie's show a few minutes ago, Hartsock said WHIO will have their cameras at Archie's house where the team will watch. Fairly certain he meant local coverage, not national.

If you missed the postgame radio show after the SJU travesty, Larry was hyping a 3-hour show on WHIO radio featuring him, John Bidell (sp?), and Keith Waleskowski. It'll be on from 5-8. I'll be at the Reds spring game in Goodyear but plan to listen to the stream. If somehow we get left out I don't want to listen to any of the national know-it-alls talk about it. I only want to hear Larry & Co, and hopefully some heartfelt reaction by Archie.

Question: In what order do things get announced on the show? Don't they do the Top 4 seeds overall, then the First Four participants, then region by region? If so, I guess we'll know right away if we're opening up in Dayton. If we're not called for First Four then the pins and needles suddenly start to really poke.

anyone else see the committee chairman on CBS before this A-10 final?

said the eye test is used and valued in their process. then said something along the lines of if the eye test wasnt used why not just let computers choose the field.

am i the only one in complete favor of that? i'm all for that. takes the biases out of it all.

i say bring it on.

They do the #1 seeds first and what region that they are in. Then they do the field. When a first 4 team is announced, they announce them both at the same time while going through the regions. At least that is how it has been done the last 2 years.

In 2000 (?) when UD played Purdue, the way each region was revealed on the selection show meant that the 6/11 game in each region was the last one to be revealed. The region Dayton was in was the last of the four given out, and Dayton got the 11 seed, and was therefore the last team named. Not the last in the field, but the last one announced. That was quite nerve-wracking.

I remember that fact vividly. I then made my arrangements for Tucson. McKale Center reminded me a lot of UD Arena I thought. Then I witnessed what should have been a Flyer victory fueled by a late Brooks Hall steal and lay-in. But the Brian Cardinal flop ended up deciding a 62-61 loss.

The Brian Cardinal flop still sticks in my mind. I remember nothing else about that game. Mark Ashman hit the bucket if i recall, but it was wiped out.
