I think AP is key as espn and everyone uses it for top 25 highlights -- for me being ranked all about national publicity.

UD should get ranked in Coaches and I was confident in AP as well, but first 4 ballots and VCU leapfrogging Dayton makes me uncertain.

It's very unfair. They have one home loss and one road loss, same as us. They are 0-3 on a neutral court while we are 2-1.

The only thing that whould put them on top of us is that all their losses were to big conference teams while two of ours are to Chattanooga and LaSalle. However, they have zero wins against any team that would be deemed impressive and they haven't had to play anybody rated as high as Xavier and Iowa.

Why a win over the Bonnies at home(who we beat on the road) and road win over Davidson who we beat at home, leapfrogs them over us who won 2 home games this week is puzzling to say the least.

You are probably right but there are some voters that should know a whole lot. I along with Chris can't believe anyone including Indiana. Their best win is #35 ND and after that it is #65 Wisc. I am sure there are voters that look at an 18-4 record in the Big 10 and figure they have to be good. Remove Iowa from the Big 10 and there is not much difference between the Big 10 and A10.

Hard to believe, but last season ended with a disproportionate amount of angst for our 6 man miracle season. The "home" games we played against Boise, Cooley, and Oklahoma worked against us. Much of that was simply jealousy, and there is a bit of carry over. What initially got us some extra press, turned into a negative when Cooley took his case to the sports talking heads and the press.

All of this current comparison to other ranked teams is simply noise level to those who have their biased mind made up.

None of the above was our doing. Right now the Flyers are working against a glass ceiling in the polls. But we shall overcome.

I have a complete lack of respect for many portions of the current media in today's world. They have become way too opioniated, less informed than they should be and agenda driven. Sports writers are part of this mess. As a whole many look down their nose at the Flyers through their East coast and big city bias. Old John Chaney revealed that type of bias when he referred Dayton as to being out in the sticks. Very prevelant way of thinking toward Dayton and other parts of the Midwest. My UD buddies have a name for the current media. They call it "The Media Industrial Complex."

I can't remember who it was, but I was reading an article on one AP voter's top 25 for the week. Apparently at some point, he had a poll of some sorts for his readers to let him know who they thought deserved his 25th spot. I forget who the voters favored, but he said he ended up going another direction (forget who) but that he wanted to add a "fresh face" to his top 25, no somebody who had been there before and was essentially looking to climb their way back in. I remember thinking, well clearly that doesn't work for UD then, at least in his ballot at the moment, but could it be more prevalent? Could voters who had voted them in twice before this season, only to see them fall on their faces just be looking for another name, another school to give them their chance?

If we are going to be honest, ever since UD won at home over GW, there really hasn't been a win of national note added to their resume. I think the average A10 fan realizes that going up to St Bonnies and winning is never easy, and winning at Fordham this season is tougher than in year's past, I also know there are a few national media pundits who realize this as well, but unfortunately they are few and far between, and few of them hold a vote in the AP top 25 poll. I think if we were being honest, I think most of us would admit that there are places outside the A10 in lower tier leagues (of the level or below the A10, like the MWC, Horizon, WCC, etc..) that are similar to Bonas in the regard that they are not a huge national name, but have tremendous local support and are tough places to play.

UD may or may not get ranked this week, frankly both Duke & ND should drop behind UD (should have already been there IMHO, but whatever), and there isn't really a team that picked up votes last week that had a resounding week like say Oregon did last week in jumping up from the middle of the ORV and into the top 25, so I believe they'll be ranked either 24th or 25th this afternoon.

I'm not so sure that the old logo in the polls is a bad thing. I'm really ok with the new one, but to the whole b-ball world the new logo leaves a lot of people guessing without the word Dayton around it somewhere.

Thanks. I was quite proud that I remembered how to make a change and I put in the new logo and this is what I get. Not that your response was that bad but I got 5 red pips because of the blue on red (they like red on blue better), 6 red pips for the new logo (they liked the old one better) and 1 green pip for my effort.

Some of this stuff with crazy votes has gotten out of control, and has probably been out of control for a long time, it would be nice if the process of ranking the teams could be revamped somehow. SerIous and informed voters should be the only ones allowed to vote.

Some of these people need to have their voting privileges revoked.

Maybe they should just turn the rankings process over to the computers. Just take 3 or 4 computer rankings and average them together to come up with the rankings.
