Been wondering the same thing. If it really was a shot clock violation, then it should have been an inbounds play with @ 5-1/2 seconds. Must not have been a true shot clock violation.

That is a blow to the face and probably intentional -- flagrant one easy call. Do the refs have the balls to call it.
Contact above the shoulders, this is a flagrant one.
There is no such thing as a basketball foul, Steve Wolfe. That is not in the rulebook.

If the SLU player ran through Smith on the first contact, I'd buy that's a "basketball foul" as Wolf likes to say. But he stopped and then ran through him with force.

Horrible decision making on the drive by Schoochie.
Put XW in to defend. Let Pierre guard Yarborough.

Flyers up three after the fifth turnover by Scoochie via charging. 24 seconds to go. I always want a foul here. Don't let Yarborough throw up any kind of 3!

I still do not how this was not called a flagrant one. It was an elbow above the shoulders and seriously he was ****ed about being back-picked and looked semi-intentional.

Applaud the effort in the second half and OT but MAN this team has some serious work to do, and it's basically all upstairs.

We are better than SLU!
What a stinker of a game. But a W.
Get this one out of our system and get back to basketball against Rhode Island.

Wow, a win is a win, but thank God we played St Louis, who stinks big time. Shades of LaSalle.

Is this a record for posts for a game? Wow, I just noticed that if there was another OT we would have broken 400 posts.
Guess there are plenty of Flyer fans!

Well, he is a X guy...that says it all. Contact to the FACE - IS intentional. How Archie contained himself on that is beyond me.

Was not a shot clock violation because UD controlled the ball before end of the clock.

The really big deal was that Pierre and Cooke were 3-19 and played like freshmen. Scooch and Kyle with decent play and Bobby gave us great minutes and 6 rebounds. And Steve was in foul trouble... again.

Look, I'm not saying that was the ugliest UD game ever, but my 62-year-old father is using poop emojis in his text messages to me right now.

I think Archie knew his team could not afford a Bench T at that point in the game, so he kept his cool. Good thing. A Bench T could have sunk us at that point.
And the fact that Wolf thought it was only a common foul is only explainable on the basis of him being an X guy. Anyone with a shred of common sense knew that should have been a Flagrant 1.

Exactly. How was play not stopped, and UD given the ball out of bounds. Of course we would have turned it over.

Dayton
is a team that is falling apart very quickly. They have reached a new season's low point in terms of performance.

Was wrapping up a meeting at halftime and told a friend that the 1st half was uglier than my 1976-77 Freshman pic for the yearbook @ C-J. And, lemme tell you - that was fugly!

Yes, but I have a strange feeling we have just witnessed the low point of the season. I say that because 3 of last year's heroes came up huge for us tonight, specifically:
1) Kyle pretty much willed us to victory tonight. He made jump shots (note: not his "game") when no one else could, and he was coming up with steals & rebounds when we needed them most.
2) Bobby was the "Bobby" that we saw as our only frontcourt sub last year, playing solid defense, and keeping things flowing on offense. And, finally
3) Scoochie was showing cojones on offense, taking the ball to the hole and generally doing good things in the process.
Other guys seemed to be trying to "f" it up, but those 3 seemed to be generally back to 2015 form. God bless 'em!

The last three games reminded me of a few games in the 2013 - 14 season, the year we made the Elite 8. Remember the meltdown that we were concerned spelled the end of the season:
Atlantic-10 regular season 01/11/2014
11:00 am, ESPN2 Saint Louis L 59–67 12–4 UD Arena (12,597)
Dayton, OH 01/15/2014
9:00 pm, WHIO at Fordham W 80–68 13–4 Rose Hill Gymnasium (2,249)
Bronx, NY 01/18/2014
3:00 pm, ESPNU at Richmond L 64–73 13–5 Robins Center (7,201)
Richmond, VA 01/22/2014
7:00 pm, CBSSN VCU L 66–80 13–6 UD Arena (12,512)
Dayton, OH 01/25/2014
4:00 pm, CBSSN at Rhode Island L 76–88 13–7 Ryan Center (6,211)
Kingston, RI 01/29/2014
7:00 pm, WHIO Saint Joseph's L 57–60 13–8 UD Arena (12,083)
Dayton, OH
Well, we survived those games and came back strong. Let's hope we do the same here.

They're under contract with the A-10. 'Nuff said. But at least they got that charge/block call correct, that sent Pierrre to the line near the end zone of the 2nd half.

Best line of the night tonight during the telecast was Ben Holden saying "just put tape on it; easy for me to say I'm wearing makeup and hair spray."

He was referring to Bobby Werhli playing after the resetting of his finger.
Bobby resembled the Bobby of last year. Archie must still have a good deal of faith in him.

I agree Archie must trust him, but it leads me to ask why he went so long without playing a meaningful minute. Now it's like he needs to catch up and get back in the flow which I think he took a big step toward tonight. But I think it was a bit unfair for Archie to not play him for so long but now expect him to come in and give us good minutes.

Great point and I would love to be able to ask Archie that question. We won, and Bobby was a factor in the win. I want to put this game behind us and see the team perform like it did earlier this season when we play Rhode Island.
Got to wonder just how important Pollard is to this team given the performance while he has been out. It also may indicate how important it is that he is healthy for the NCAAs.

That happens with some frequency when there is a second or so left after rebounding an air ball or shot that did not hit the rim. Pretty sure a time at UD this year. I have seen a televised game where it goes off as the rebounder has thrown an outlet. I don't know what they are supposed to do, but I don't think I have seen play stopped and the clock reset. They usually play through the shot clock horn. This was more confusing because it is also near end of game horn.

He didn't play BW because Archie believed the newcomers had more upshot and needed playing time to develop. The chips are down now and the time for experimentation is over. We have to do what's necessary to win games the rest of the way. Player development will have to wait until the season is over.

The refs can't stop play unless there is a violation or foul! You play thru an inadvertent horn...and only stop play for a whistle.
Ugly win. Glad I went to bed before the OT.
