Golden Rollos..._avier

The G.R.'s are not awarded to the game's MVP, those are reserved for the Golden DNutz. Today's vote is for the Flyer whose efforts were not up to the lofty standards of the Flyer Faithful who expect and demand perfection...or at least have an expectation that you break a sweat.

The G.D. doesn't mean you suck...it simply means you sucked today. And as there is always a tomorrow, it's not meant to hurt anyone's feelings, although I'm sure the jock-sniffers will be frothing at the mouth just seeing the Title of this thread and will in all likelihood come to the defense of these men whom they insist be treated forever like children.

Regardless, King Rollo doesn't give out participation trophies and to be part of his kingdom, you must accept that, in life, there is good and bad, black and white, up and down, DNutz and Rollos. In other words, the Golden Rollo's are nothing more than a valuable lesson in life.

You're royally welcome.

BTW...Pollard and Scoochie played like men today are are not available for the Award...same with Xeryius.

The Title IX team banned that award. Never repeat it again or you'll have black helicopters circling your house 24/7.

Sorry, Baby D, but you're playing like you're still on summer vaca. Granted, even if you had shown-up, we'd have still lost by 20, but when you had a chance to make a difference, you were out sniffing daisies.

Too bad there was no "all of the above" option. Gentlemen, if you get your act together and do some MAJOR damage in A10 play, MOST of this will be forgiven. But not all. After all, you lost to The Evil Empire.

We could have done without the 9 turnovers your two men had today. Have to learn to value every possession.

When it's 2 on 5, those 2 are going to have turnovers. It's like the Captain going down with the ship.

Now granted I could only stomach watching roughly 10 minutes of the game today, but we are going to need more production and better minutes from our five freshmen. We were exposed royally today.

Rollo quit being a Jock Sniffer. A loss like this is a team effort. Scoochie and Pollard have to take their medicine also.

Scoochie had a decent game, but KP missed half his FTs and had more fouls than rebounds. Not nearly our "weakest links" tonight, but not exempt from criticism, either.

Daryl has regressed immensely for whatever reason. I think he worked hard on his driving to the bucket, but his outside shooting has been dismal. If he continues this trend, he should and will lose his minutes to Mikesell.

He played well in the opener, but not too well since then. Hopefully, he'll be able to shake the sophomore jinx before he becomes a junior.

My vote looks to be the first for Cooke. Reason is because none of the other 3 are expected to be difference makers for us - at least not at this early juncture. I can't say with certainty that Cooke wasn't busting his butt out there. But he scored only 5 and was well off on most of his shots. Don't even know who he was matched up with on D but it must not have mattered. So Cooke gets my vote by default in a very attractive field of candidates.

Well, I'll probably tick off a few people with my nominee . . .the coaching staff. Where was the game plan, and if it was what we saw in the first half, where was the adjustment later? Did we REALLY think we would beat Xavier with a drive the lane strategy? And how could the Flyers come out so flat against X and in a tourney championship game?

It was an absolute embarrassment to sit there in that arena and watch that performance.

Thumbs down

Yep was painful and embarrassing to sit in the arena and watch this horrible game. X is good but not that good.rebs were bad, shooting was very bad, especially around the basket, Fts were not good. Other than schooch and pollard, effort was stinky or worse And when is Sam ever going to get into the game. He looks like the deer in the headlights.

Probably our worst loss in a long long time and trusting we won't see another like it for a long time.

Raise your hand if you thought we were going to win them all until Dyshawn comes back.

Face it. We were exposed by a better team. I think the guys will not like this taste they are going sleep with and come back focused.

We can savor two nice scalps and one klunker.

Bring on North Florida.

Rollaids... i have to say of all your antics this is the most precious. We played like absolute **** today and i blame bad line ups. The Overlords of northern Kentucky looked much faster and stronger than us all game. I blame archie... He gets my vote. I will take participation in the poll and blame big mac bc he still moves like a fat man. Steve needs to release he lost all that weight, he looked like Desmond Adedeji today

What ever happened to 'In Archie, we trust'?

In all seriousness he was my first choice since in the real world the coaches should always take the blame for a loss and credit for wins should always be given to the players. But 99.94% of UDPride is so madly in love with AM that to place any blame on him is akin to treason.

Therefore, in order to avoid total chaos and keep peace in the Kingdom, it's easier just to list the playahs and let the serfs vote for thy one most worthy of the dreaded Golden Rollos!

In his few minutes he was arguably the most porous defender on the floor, and that's saying a lot after yesterday's defensive debacle

Ditto. It's time for DD to lose the "palms up" expression after every mistake, foul, turnover, etc., and put his big boy pants on. He's only a sophomore, but with the playing time he received last year along with the results shown by Scoochie and KD after just one year under Archie, well...it's time.

on defense yes. EGGS was just taking quick release shots (see Macura) and other crazy attempts. Very aggressive in the first half and early second.

I think Y was amped up for this game , so doubt they put those type of shots up during regular season competition ( i could be wrong). They were bigger, stronger and faster than us.

So Mikesell could not or any flyer could not really keep up, to be honest.

What's promising is his offensive Flow and understanding of the game.

I'd like to see 15 to 20 minutes of Ryan M per game, so he can launch more shots. Guy knows what he's doing with the ball. No reason he shouldn't be shooting 5 to 8 shots a game now, hitting 2 or 3 treys.

Wow...I thought perhaps I was being a bit harsh on Daryl Davis with my comments, but it appears a lot of Priders are highly disappointed with his play as well. I hope he can shake it off and return to the player that we all thought he would be this year. Otherwise, he is going to find little playing time in future games.

I still believe we will see more performances like we turned in against Alabama (who knocked off back to back top 25 teams over the weekend) and far fewer performances like we turned in against that group of guys yesterday, who will more than likely be one of the top 15 teams in the country when the new polls come out. Half our roster of guys getting playing time are either freshmen or new to the program.

In Archie we trust!

The Flyers couldn't even pass the ball for the players draped all over them. They were not only outclassed by size and athleticism, they were completely taken out of their own game plan.

The confidence level was a greater disparity than the score was, imho. Their's kept mounting and the Flyers had no answer for their physicality.

Except for the worst display of shooting I've seen in some time. Tough one to lay an egg in. Pierre would've added a post presence and driving threat that we lacked, but he couldn't keep us within ten points of them. Not yet. No choice but to turn it into a positive.

Question for people who know these things better than I. Does adding the muscle that DD has this season have an effect on shooting touch? Seems to me that someone with a soft smooth stroke like DD showed last season would have to adjust to the added strength he has in his arms, shoulders and legs to keep that touch.

Could that be the problem?

No.

Take a look at the best and brightest that college basketball produces and you'll see that 99% of them are buff. In basketball, if you can't be taller, then be stronger. If you can't be faster, then be stronger. And you can't always get taller...or always get faster...but you can always get stronger.

Always.

Now, if all you do is lift for mass and don't touch a basketball for 6 months, you'll have problems. But these guys mix the lifting, stretching, agility and shooting in a way that maximizes individual performance.

Interesting you mention that Smitty, I was wondering the same thing. However, he needed to add strength to be effective on defense.

You can vote for Big Steve if you want. If so, you're voting for a freshman in his 6th game.

I believe ya need to vote for an upperclassman in this DEBACLE. They need to lead, to shoot, rebound and defend.

I vote for Cookie in this game. That also means i respect him.
Otherwise i wouldn't even consider him. He's earned props. We all need that one sh*t performance to .... wake up for the Season.

Thanks Eddie.

The stats don't point to anything dramatically different. DD (along with just about everyone else) had a really bad game yesterday. Let's hope he can get back on track along with the others.

Go Flyers!

This is a case of numbers not being the whole story. His actions in the flow of the game are totally lacking confidence. The ball sticks in his hands. His passes lack purpose and authority. The notion that he possesses the skills to be a back up PG against top competition are on hold.

He gets tossed around like a rag doll on defense. Last year he had the 3pt confidence to throw it backward over his head and make more than 1 of 5. His stroke is AWOL.

I believe, for whatever reason, his confidence level is in the dirt. Maybe it's the new guys still trying to figure out the ball movement and the offense. It could be that he misses the rotation that was so predictable last year when all we had was 7 players.

Whatever, right now he does not have the game or the strength to ad-lib on either end.
