Hard to really argue with either. I think the coaches do less work in looking at the complete resume and just look at what happened that week and move teams up or down accordingly.

See Post #39 in thread "Do we drop out of top 25 with these 2 losses?" So far ud2 and I are half right. Most posters had us dropping out of both polls. You gotta have faith.

Lost to RPI 26&33.
Not bad losses by any means, but losses none the less. Just need to take care of business this week and we will be back.

You may be right CE80, but my theory on this is a bit different.
The vote proves coaches are smarter than the average idiot these days who works in the media. Some of these guys should not be allowed to vote based on ballots that I saw a month or so ago when this was discussed.

How about this? I think we were over respected a week ago and at 22/26 we are right about where we belong.

Crap. Missed it by THAT much. Would probably be ranked if Louisville and SMU weren't included in the poll

FWIW, sorry to be a downer, but I am not convinced that 2 wins in a row gets them back into the AP poll...they may have to go 2 weeks with no more losses...they could get leapfrogged again....may have to take 4 in a row.
Beating SLU and Rhody might not be impressive enough...seems that once you are out, you can be subjected to random leapfrog snubs.

Not that it matters, but if we go 2-0 this week we will absolutely be ranked again. That would put us at 23-5 with a top 15 RPI going into the last week of the season. There would be zero justification for keeping them out at that point, there are only a handful of teams in the country with comparable resumes this late in the year.
Although if Texas loses one or both of their games this week to "good teams" they still probably deserve to be ranked higher because logic says so. Right?

Perhaps they are indeed taking in the whole work thingy as well as Pollards status. Word on the street was KP injury is worse than reported and may be finished for the season. Hope rumors are wrong but some say Archie carefully worded report on KP hints otherwise.
Either way....next man up....no excuses. Just win baby and everyone will be happy.....except our opponents of course.

And after almost 10 years and everyone knowing the academic scandal at NC they shouldn't be ranked either!

This time of year at this point in the season is NO Time to start new negative trends ... i.e. 2 losses in row since Jan 14, no losses to A10 at home in 20 games, etc ......
Pick it up or stay home!
Hate to see them play for one of the First Four games again!
PS Only half joking! Heh Heh heh ... I don't fell so good.
PPS I know that the commitee won't place them at home again ... NO they will place them in the farthest reaches of the continent!

Win both games this week...that would be terrific
Will we be ranked again...most likely not
Bottom Line: simply WIN!
GO FLYERS! Team ball, defend better, hit the boards better, no KP...someone needs to step up

If we get back to playing Flyer basketball, everything will take care of itself. If not, we will get the dreaded Spokane assignment against somebody like SDSU and get clocked. In the long run, rankings are just an indicator of how you are playing. Stick to business.

You are using the same argument that was used when UD was leapfrogged in the rankings a few weeks ago, and that same argument failed and was proven invalid...UD was #27, and UD deserved to be #25 or #24, but yet UD was leapfrogged by less-deserving teams.
I will not be surprised to see UD at #26 or worse next week in the AP poll even if UD goes 2-0 this week.

Let's just go 2-0 this week. Screw the polls.

I'd say that's more accurate than 13/15. Watched Virginia and Miami play last night. Flyers might get those teams on a given night, but on most nights they wouldn't.
20-25 seems more accurate to me.
