The seniors will get the record in St. Louis
How appropriate that the seniors will earn the title in St. Louis.
If you recall, the Flyers backs were against the wall when they upset St. Louis @ St. Louis three years ago. If they don't win that game, they don't get in the tournament and go on the magical run. The three freshmen that year played so strong against St. Louis. Now seniors, they deserve to break the record there!

Didn't SLU take us into OT there last season after we doubled their score at the arena? Just sayin, don't count your chickens. There's landmines everywhere.

SLU always scares me, even in their bad years. Tonight's win was amazing! So nice to see another team miss crucial FTs, especially 2 of 3 on a 3 foul. We won in spite of the refs doing everything they could to hand the game to URI on a silver platter. I hope KP's teeth can be saved. No call or even a review! His mouth was clearly swollen.
I counted at least 3 times a URI player stepped out of bounds while holding the ball. No call. On that last play after we took the lead at the end, the URI player with the ball traveled while pushing KP for several feet and then had the ball go off his body. And they get the ball out of bounds! Fortunately, the URI player panicked on the throw-in and threw it away. Fitting!
I REALLY hope we don't have to play them in Pittsburgh.

We are not going to lose at St. Louis. There is no way our seniors would ever let that happen. I'd b shocked if we don't win by 20. This team is firing now and we will add in Josh. We were up by 28 at home before we played Trey and Gruden and even had 20 minutes of he who must not be named to end up 21 ahead. St. Louis is abysmal.

Hopefully setting the record will have some meaning for the seniors and they will blow out Louie. STL is playing pretty good right now, so we need to do more than show up.

Not that good. They are 3-8 in conference. Lost last game to Bonnie's by 15. They recently played NCA&T I guess to get get some kind of win and beat them soundly, they are 1-22 and lost 21 straight and should probably be disbanded. I think we had them down by 30 before backing off at home. Doubt we are even challenged.

I think St Louis will be a close game. They have won or come close in a lot is games recently and they will be up for this. Plus, another road game on weekday for us - after a big emotional win. All that spells close game.

I'm optimistic that UD will get the job done. They may look a little flat but will get it done in the end. After all it would be an excellent birthday present so they can't let me down. Now the challenge may be where to find the game while on a business trip in LA.

I guess this is the appropriate thread, i was severely bored on my lunch break today. I found this gem in 2014 Stanford game thread:

As long as the team doesn't figuratively bring out the stepladder prematurely, the Flyers should be fine.

You are already too late. It is a trap game. We stomped on them at the Arena and embarrassed them. They are 4-2 in their last 6 games. Averaging 70+ points a game in those 6. I don't care who they played, winning builds confidence.
They are 8-7 at home. Where they suck is away from Chaifetz---1-9.
We always have to fight inner demons when we go to St Louis.

They may be better (a little), but we have seniors on a mission. They know they need to win. They want to set the Class W record. I don't expect as easy a game like at the Arena, but I will think we would be underperforming if we don't win by at least 10 points.

I actually agree with all that. If we lose it will be the under-performance of the year. It's what upsets are made of. UGH.
If I were an SLU player and got beat to the point of ridicule at the Arena, I would throw my body in front of a train before I would let that happen on my home court in front of my homies.

Are you new to UD basketball or sports in general? This game has slip up written all over it. I hope they win but 30, but if they lose I will put most of the blame on your post.

At half time on national TV (CBS Sports Network), you can not buy the kind of national positive marketing that we just received. The positive comments about the team, individual players and head coach were monumentally FANtastic. Wow!

UD didn't even bother bringing. They just kept it in it's case in the UD Arena locker room.

Wally is one of their better analysts and isn't just reciting some predetermined lines/take. It's like he actually played the game at a high level, and is able to watch it and then offer up coherent intelligent thoughts on what he saw.

He is also not a product of the big school conferences. He has always been his own man. He was a top 30 recruit out of HS and played for Miami because he loved the school and coach Coles.

It was a trap game, and our guys wouldn't have any part of it, thankfully. St Louis played a pretty good second half and outscored us with 46 points. Our first half defense was smothering, something that earlier in the year was an issue. Congrats to the Seniors for setting the record in a place that historically makes us gag.

Rothstein is the absolute worst and Seth is just a step below him. Those two make Gary Parrish seem like a genius.

It was a trap game, the guys just didn't step in it. Archie seems to be able to get the players to understand how to close out close games and finish off seasons. Didn't use to be that way.

Dayton Seniors Smell the Barn
I once heard a coach describe college hoops seniors with a ranch analogy. He said at the end of the work day horses "smell the barn" and race to the barn. We are watching the Dayton seniors race to the finish as the schedule comes to a close . Go Flyers!

Wally is great and his biggest attribute is that he doesn't get caught up in all of the analytics like most of the other analysts. Now I know many of the other analysts say they are just trying to analyze the teams the same way the committee does, which I understand, but it's refreshing to hear Wally just talk about what he sees happening on the floor.

And for you All Time Dayton Record interested people:
Scoochie Smith has played in 131 games. That is ranked #8 on the all time games played list.
With 5 regular season games, and an assumption of at least 1 A10 and 1 NCAA (or, heaven fordbid, NIT) game, that would tie him with Chris Johnson at 138. So, an extra game in the A10 or postseason will give him sole position of 1st place in Games Played.

Didn't stop CBSSN from showing Jerry Palm's projection of VCU getting A10 auto bid w/ Dayton as at-large.
As for Wally, he's fed up with the other yahoo's on the set preaching about teams getting credit for "good losses"....was a stupid stupid concept.

VCU owns the tie breaker at the moment therefore VCU gets the nod at the moment. Doesn't really matter until March 1
