A UD Prediction
Tim Welsh on ESPNU just picked Dayton over Tosu. He was the prognosticator who last year picked FGCU to go far in the tourney.

CBS's Dennis Dodd has us knocking out tOSU and Cuse before falling to Kansas to go to the Elite 8. I'd take the FGCU type run too

I actually have a really good feeling about Thursday, I don't know what it is, but this has been a special season and I don't see it coming to an end this week. We have seen this UD team do things that other teams have failed to do the past 20 or so years. I'm hoping we see something similar to 2009 in the WV game, except for this year, we don't pack it in two days later and continue to shock the country

Is Garry Parrish an A10 hater? He picked one A10 'upset': VCU over UCLA to the Sweet 16. He picks the other 5 to lose in the first round. Including SLU and UMass to the play-in winners.

How about taking it a step further and adding that we knock out the Jayhawks also this time around?

Now wouldn't that be sweet revenge. I also like the fact that we could have a shot at Cuse in the next round, a team that I think we would have beaten in Maui if it wasn't for that collapse against Baylor.

Tell me about it. I was at those games in Maui and when they lost to Baylor I was wondering if I really wanted to go to the 3rd place game. Just some momentary disappointment that went away after a day at the beach. We got to high 5 the team on the way to the bus the next day but after the excitement of crushing Cal, that "what coulda been feeling" started as the TV had the Baylor/Syracuse game on and never really went away. I want Cuse and hey, Buffalo ain't much different than Maui is it?

I don't know why, but I do not like being the trendy upset pick. It seems the trendy team to pull off the upset never does because the team they are playing uses that for extra motivation and prove the media pundits wrong. Don't get me wrong, I like the matchup against OSU...I just wish we would go under the radar as an underdog.

If you are looking at who has the "extra motivation" that has to be Dayton getting a shot at OSU.

NY Times
From today's NYT:
"Upset Special Dayton won 10 of it's previous 11 games before a last-second shot by Langston Galloway of St. Joseph's knocked it out of the Atlantic 10 tournament in the quarterfinals. But the Flyers can put up points, something Ohio State has been struggling to do. Look for the Buckeyes to be bounced by their Ohio Neighbor."
Go Flyers!

C'mon, at this time of year, nobody outside of a 1-Seed, perhaps, is taking anybody lightly! Matta will have his crew chomping at the bit, but OSU is very beatable. So long as we bring our "A" game and, for Gawd's sake, hit our FTs, we should be fine. My only concern with this match up is that AM and JS may be a little too hyped. We can do this, absolutely.
I like the fact that after we get by OSU, we'll probably have 'Cuse waiting in the wings. It's a little bit of Karma that we'd get to face them after missing our shot with the Orange out in Maui.

Congratulations
to the UD Flyers for a fine season and a bid to the dance. Some though me a bit crazy when I predicted such in September. Congratulations as well to a VERY strong A-10 conference with 6 teams invited to the dance. UD qualified by playing a demanding schedule. Through the OSU game UD will have played 41% of their games against tournament qualified (NCAA/NIT) teams. The other tournament fields have not yet been announced. My heart and soul will be with UD on Thursday. They will lace them up against the #4 defense in K Pom's ranking. The good news is that OSU will have to contend with the #30 offense in K Pom's ranking. The A-10 competition has prepared UD well for strong defensive opponents. If UD can make foul shots and rebound well I like their chances. Go Flyers!
