Could X be looking for a new HC soon?
Gary Parrish @GaryParrishCBS 9m
Xavier coach Chris Mack has emerged as a legitimate target to replace Jeff Bzdelik at Wake Forest, sources told @CBSSports. Story coming ...
That would be crazy

That would be interesting. I wonder how happy the Xavier faithful are with him? If he is feeling some pressure it might be an easy time for him to exit.

Wake Forest's AD is Ron Wellman who is the Chair of the Basketball Selection Committee. He was here for the First Four. Can't believe he liked what he saw from _avier when they played NC State.

Lots of connections to the Prosser/Gaudio regime. Could certainly instill some of the ill-will that many had after they fired Gaudio and hired Wellman's buddy with a questionable resume.
4 years later, the Gaudio firing and Bzdelik hiring remain one of the mysteries of the universe.

I think they'd be thrilled to have him gone, I get a BG prior to the GT hiring vibe off their fan base right now.

I get the same vibe. BG is a good comparison to the current situation at X. It seems pretty split there like it was here.

A _avier buddy of mine emailed me just before the NCState game and told me he fears that _avier is Mack's last stop.

I think is in our best interests for Mack to stay at X for as long as possible.

Wake Forest is a coaching graveyard. Haven't two previous X coaches tried and died there?

Not even remotely humorous. Skip Prosser's passing was one of the most tragic in NCAA basketball coaching history. Not to mention the game lost one of true gentlemen, one of most respected men in the game.

Yikes. Chris Mack has made the NCAA tournament in 4 out of 5 years including two Sweet Sixteens (one of which was lost in double OT!) and some Xavier fans want him to move on? They might want to ask the fans of schools like St. John's to remind them of how good they have it.

I'll give you a pass and hope you didn't realize that Skip Prosser actually died as coach at Wake.
And he had a pretty successful tenure, so wrong on that count. That said, it's a tough job made even tougher with the additions of Louisville, Syracuse and Pitt.

I realize this is just a blogger and nothing official but it says a lot that some WF fans are wishing Archie was available.

I'll bet they are. No way Archie is giving up UD for a program in the hole.

Masiello from Manhattan might be available for WF now that USF has said "no" since he lied about graduating from UK on his resume.
Pitino said he was "shocked" by the new development. Isn't this the same guy that RP *****ed at the pairings about having to play his former pupil and someone he was so "close" to?!?
Where's George O'Leary when you need him?

Funny, the 2 comments basically say Miller would be a better hire than Mack.

I agree. Glad we have Arch for at least another 2, 3, 4 (or more) seasons.
