One of the Keys to Tonight's Win
We forced 11 turnovers, with 2 by Sam Miller by covering up the passing lane to the paint, and two brilliantly improvised double-teams on Mason. Those were the only mistakes Mason made - the two double-teams, both of which resulted in turnovers. Conversely, we only had 6 turnovers tonight.

Tommy, totally agree. +5 Possessions due to less turnovers ( Dukes had 11 and Dayton 6) & +3 rebounds (42 to 39) so +8 possessions was the difference in the game.
Team shoots 44% from 3 versus Dayton gunning 25 threes and Dayton shoots 53.6% from the foul line shooting 28 free throws and Dayton wins!?!?!?
All about +8 possessions.
Cooke had ZERO turnovers, Schoochie only 1, Pollard only 1, and Pierre only had 1. The 4 of them have been giving it up a ton lately.

One of the reasons the double-team worked against Mason at mid-court, Duquesne was out of timeouts. If they had one left, he just calls timeout.

Ferry had to call timeouts because of the crowd. The first time it worked, everyone sat back down, but it didn't work after that. So I credit the crowd's "game"!

I am sitting in my lazy-boy with laptop streaming the game, and the electricity at the arena was radiating out of my screen.

I love it when the crowd gets really loud. We have the best and the most fans in the A10. Nobody is used to noise like that--a true 6th man. It was great to hear We Will Rock You at the end, even though we were hanging on by a thread. Our confidence gave the team that extra oomph to finish on top.Never underestimate the power of the crowd.

The DJ finally pulled out a great song to hype the crowd! It was awesome. Normally like Katy Perry would come on and kill the crowd.

They have played that song more than once this season. It always helps amp up the atmosphere. Most A10 teams have tiny gyms with few fans. George Mason has a 10,000 seat arena, bigger than most of the other teams, but Dayton fans out-numbered them, as usual. Duquesne had hardly any fans last month, a lot less than UD. Not even close to filling that tiny gym. Sometimes, opposing fans complain that their home games seem like away games. D)

That was the loudest I have heard a UD crowd on TV. Thanks fans.
And the student section looked and sounded awesome.

The fans need to get more strategic. Always quiet down after timeouts following runs early in the game and 2nd half. Coach thinks this works and runs out out of them when it really matters.
