Kudos to Elijah Weaver
for his fine 3 point shooting and drives to the basket. He has helped to transform the Flyer offense in these big tournament games.

Not the tall point guard we thought we were getting but is showing his ability to be a true scorer from the perimeter and at the rim

I agree, except for the step back three that he took late in the game so early in the shot clock. That one cost us at a pivotal time in the game. I love his energy and he may become the leader on the floor we desperately need, but he needs to make better decisions.

Someone posted in another thread about his + and - (not in the stats realm) there were 2 times in that run we had late in 2nd half he gave us a goal and followed up with a poor decision that kind of plus - minus
Sometimes I get the impression he wants to be 'the guy'.

I’ve only been able to watch 3 games this year - the 3 victories - so clearly I need to engage more for the good of the program. But that’s another conversation....
I thought Weaver is starting to find his role more each game. Nothing prettier than Malachi pushing the ball down the court and dishing to Weaver for a 3. He hit a handful of those these last two games. Did he later force a step-back 3 early in the shot clock? Probably, but I bet AG tells them to be aggressive and if you’re hot keep shooting. I can’t nick-pick that too much. After all, in the end it saved us a couple seconds we needed to win this thing. Just saying....
I was pretty happy with Malachi, DaRon and Weaver. Maybe it was because I saw them the first game and not again until these last two, but I thought they all took huge steps forward in their performances and what this team needs from each of them to win.

I still get the feeling that if Weaver would've been the one to shoot the dagger rather than Mustapha, he would feel that he should do it every game from that point forward. I worry that any time he does something good, he will take that as a free reign to try and be the star right after.

10 assists and 16 turnovers. Quite bad for a guard.
But he's shooting 40% from 3 while others can't hit much.

He
should play the 2 not PG. He has a bad handle and makes too many to's.

Weaver does not have a “bad handle”. Not sure what you are watching, his turnovers are usually a result of forcing a pass. Not understanding all of the Weaver criticism at all. Many on this board said he can’t shoot. How’s that working out for you?

Seriously, his handle is awful. He's lost so many balls dribbling under minimal pressure. See what you want. A/TO of 0.625 is NOT from forcing passes.

Live update, now 0.5:1.0 at halftime. For a guard. Here's to the second half being the start of something good for Weaver handling the ball.
