In a losing effort, Brian goes for 17, taking only 11 shots. That is incredibly efficient.

Too bad he shares the backcourt with Eric Gordon. The next pass Gordon throws will be his first.

The Pelicans are also desperate to try and make Austin Rivers a player. First round draft choice and he has been a bust but they give him minutes that a lower draft choice probably wouldn't be getting.
CJ played 25 minutes last night in a Celts win. He didn't have a good shooting night but he did get 7 rebounds.

I have watched Brob on TV a few times now (between he and CJ at Boston, I have watched more pro basketball in the last few months than I have watched in the past 10 years). When Brian is in there, the team looks under control and has a purpose. When he is out, it goes all helter skelter .. just alley ball.
I have no stats, but it looks to me like their big young stud Anthony Davis plays better when Brob is at the point. Looks like Brob ‘s job is to set him up. The other guards are all for themselves.
Brob’s problems are all on the defensive side. He just does not have the strength to hold off the opposing guards. I think Davis in particular tries real hard to compensate for that ….
And I agree Rivers has a long way to go. But he is young. He can still learn and improve. Who knows …

ESPN analyst Hubie Brown has gone from describing B-Rob as "a backup PG who is only in there because Jrue Holliday is hurt" to "Monty Williams really likes Roberts and thinks he's a keeper" in the space of a few weeks.

The more time Brian gets the better he's played. Defensively he's never going to be a stopper, and it's fairly easy for teams to expose him with mismatches, even with other guards. Austin Rivers has improved since last year, but he's shooting horribly. Neither are as complete a player as Jrue Holiday. The Pelicans miss him badly, even though Brian has played VERY well in his absence. The Pelicans are also missing two other important pieces so it's been rough sledding for them lately.

The Birds have a tough issue to solve with Rivers. He's not a combo guard. He is a 2 who is a very inefficient scorer. And he is too short to be a SF in the NBA. Chris Johnson is actually a much better option than Rivers at this point in their careers.

Pelicans are a pretty good spot for BRob. Anthony Davis is an absolute stud and will be a top 10 player in the NBA for years to come. Yeah Eric Gordon is kind of a ball hog, but he's a shooting guard and is paid to provide scoring. I think BRob will be a 15-20 minute instant offense guy off the bench for a long time.
But like people have said, his defense is atrocious.

BTW NBA.com has an awesome new feature where you can watch every play a player makes as long as it's in the box score: http://stats.nba.com/gameDetail.html...bView=boxscore
click on any stat and a video will pop up

Just turned on Pelicans/Suns. Tuned in just in time to see double technical on BRob and Dragic. Goran took offense to Brian's tight on-ball D and things almost got really ugly. The 2 are still going at it off the ball as I type this. In fact, Roberts just picked up #4 but Dragic ended up on the floor. Then Ajinca fouls Dragic and he gets all uptight about that.
