Looks like we have injuries, Wilmoth, Ward, and another transfer, and Giaconne(sp), guess she is out for good.
Only 3 bench players available and one is a walkon.

Dayton looks much more athletic. Missing several shots but looking good enough. 2 minutes left in the 1st and up 13-2.

Could be a long season for the ladies with only 7 ship players available.

Not playing very smart. Outscored 17-12 in 2nd. Greene cant be very happy with the effort. Low energy in 2nd.

28-23 Flyers at the half. Neither team looks very good. Dayton 4-8 from the line and 9 turnovers. La Salle helping with 14 turnovers.
As frustrating as anything is the lack of basketball IQ and situational awareness.

Layfield with 10 boards in the 1st half. Up by 5 but the 2nd Q was ugly. Hopefully some renewed energy in the 3rd Q.

Burdette needs to realize sh cant foul with only 7 players. Better to give up the bucket than have to sit out the last five minutes of the half.

Out with Injuries - Wilmuth, Ward, Fowler, Giacone, Parkinson
Out for transfer season - Bradshaw, Chandler
That is 7 of the 14 scholarship players not available. Might as well give Szabo the one open scholarship.

36-26 Flyers. TO La Salle. Layfield doing it all - scoring, rebounding, steals.

10 steals so far. Layfield close to a triple with 11 pts, 15 bounds and 7 steals.

3rd q more like it. Greene must have lit a fire at half.

Although we got the bucket at the end of the quarter, we again did not hold for the last shot on the previous possession and it cost us a foul and lucky not more. Lack of basketball IQ. Layfield was a monster in that 3rd quarter.

How far can the ladies go with only 7 ship players. We don't seem to do well with transfers staying healthy.

she did travel with the team but on crutches. Can't afford anymore injuries. Wilmuth was ill I thought not an injury. Surely she should be ready to come back.

76-47 Flyers final. Pretty good second half. Only 10 turnovers for the game - and I think just one in the whole second half. Excellent.
Can't say enough about Layfield. 24 boards, 12 points, and 8 steals. She owned the glass and was picking off the La Salle passes into the post with good anticipation.
Szabo ran the point for a good part of the 4th quarter- and looked quite proficient doing so. I realize this was not crunch time, but I would give her more minutes based on what I saw today.

Burdette now 23rd in career scoring with 1030 -- only 33 away from 22 Kendel Ross (1063).

FYI Giacone just had a second foot surgery within the last week or so.
