St. Bonaventure Game Thread
I'd thought I'd get the game thread out early. Gutsy effort last night in the win but now to the absolutely massive game Saturday afternoon at the Arena against one of the hottest teams in the conference. Part 2 of the 5 game stretch we need to win. This will be the toughest of the 5 IMO after we owned them in Olean earlier this year.
Game is at 12:30 on Saturday and will be shown on the NBC Sports Network.
Starting Lineup:
G 10 Jay Adams 6'1" 180 FR Baltimore, MD
G 3 Marcus Posley 6'1" 200 JR Rockford, IL
G 23 Andell Cumberbatch 6'5" 200 SR East Orange, NJ
F 21 Dion Wright 6'7" 220 JR Carson, CA
C 35 Youssou Ndoye 7'0" 250 SR Dakar, Senegal
Marcus Posley meet Kyle Davis. Youssou Ndoye meet Kendall Pollard.
Let's get it done boys! Go UD!

Last time we played them we shot 58% from 3 (BW 3/4, SS 4/5, DD 3/3), 56% overall and 86% from the line. We may not have to shoot that well to win but we better shoot much better than last night.

According to the Bonnies forum, Adams is having surgery on a finger today and will most likely miss the rest of the season.

Too bad - they came real close to taking down UMass yesterday.
The Minutemen are due for a fall - their average margin of victory in conference play is less than half a point.

confirmed on cbs sports, though the Bonnies board would be way ahead of this one typically.

Jay Adams is no ordinary freshman. "Adams was averaging 10.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals." That is a huge loss.

This is massive loss for them... I didn't watch their game but according to the UMass thread on their board it looked like when Adams went out with the injury, they did nothing after that. We'll see how it affects them tomorrow afternoon.

All Saints Days continue today. We are long overdue for the kind of breakout game we haven't seen from the boys since their march through New York last month (oops. Forgot about the 101 they laid on Fordham)
Nice to hear Bucky again. I'm not even giving the NBCSN guys a chance. It's on mute they go. After all, who knows how many more times we'll be treated to a Larry & Bucky broadcast?

Kendall Pollard goes into the tunnel after that charge call. Was holding his head in his hands. Ouch.
He is not on the bench right now

Last five minutes look like the StL game. After hitting everything, now we miss several wide open shots and free throws.

Good to see Pierre hitting 3's. Hopefully his FT's will come around too. Will need him more if Pollard has injury problems today.

Wasn't very smart of Pollard running straight into that player right in front of him. Most likely heads bumped. That could mean only six players for today....and next game or two if its a concussion.

Gotta play smart with 4 fouls or it'll be Gruden and Bonsu in crunch time.

run clock, don't turn it over and make free throws and they'll walk the dog to a double digit win. Hopefully Pollard is back healthy for Thursday.

Glad with have a 17 point lead with 2:40 to go with Pollard sitting and Wehrli fouling out. Also, Soochie with 4 fouls. This could be ugly without that lead.

Another W at home and we stay on top of the A10.
Concerned about Pollard, and hope he is okay to play. We saw one of our worst fears today with a player going down and another fouling out, but our team won.

And then the bozo on Bonnies takes out Baby D after the made shot and hits him in the head.

Wonder what the conversation was between coaches at end of game. Took a few minutes to shake hands.

Archie said on postgame radio that he talked with Kendall after the game and he is in good spirits. But Arch hadn't spoken with doctors or medical staff. His quote: "If we have to play with 6 we will."

My daughter & I noticed that as we were getting up to leave. I wondered if Schmidt didn't ask Archie, "Why didn't you put-in your second string?", to which Archie would have replied, "I don't have one!"

Was sitting 150 feet away, and thought the same thing. The lady next to me commented that they black-haired ref (I think his name was Ferguson) was making calls and/or non-calls against us all day (and she pays attention to those kinds of details), and he was the one under the hoop on that play.
Sanzere was the lead ref, and he was pretty good. The 3rd guy was Kenneth Clark, and he was so-so. But Ferguson was as worthless as dog vomit.

DD held his head coming back to the bench after the game . He took his hand off for a few seconds in the handshake line, but put it back rather quickly.

I could not believe there was not foul called on that play. A foul is a foul, even if it occurs after a made basket. I hope there is no concussion issue with Baby D.

Weird stats, the Bonnies had 50 points in the paint, 9 free throws and only one two point shot outside the paint.
