Robert Morris Preview
As we head toward Saturday, I thought the following RMU preview might be of interest: https://herosports.com/fcs/football-...rt-morris-cici
This is a team w/a new Head Coach. He's a former Miami Hurricane/NFL linebacker, and most recently was the D-coordinator at Albany. Consistent w/past years, RMU should be very stout and aggressive on the defensive side. They have a couple of very good LBers (Wollet and Lamica). The one possible area of weakness is on the D-line. They aren't particularly deep and seem a little undersized compared to prior Colonial teams. Edit: In looking at their roster, they also seem very young in the secondary; I'm not sure they return any starters among their DBs. May be able to take advantage through the air.
On the offensive side, their QB likely will be Jimmy Walker. He started last year and seems to have had an "ok" season. His O-line last year didn't do him any favors. I suspect their O-line will be a little better this year. They have a transfer RB and TE who should contribute immediately on offense as well.
Bottom line: This is a very winnable game, but as in past years will be a slugfest. I suspect the Flyers will be able to move the ball succesfully; the key will be how the defense (with several players in new roles) performs. Likely will come down to taking care of the ball and field position.

Great recap FI. I am going to hold off making any statement regarding the team until after I see them play this weekend. I am extremely excited for some things they have. I am waiting to see how they filled some of the holes, and how they are going to leverage their talent.
Robert Morris is always a tough team that tends to shoot themselves in the foot with coaching and unnecessary penalties. With a new coaching staff, I am also excited to see if Robert Morris shaped up at all in the offseason.
With all that said, I am ready to see the team Saturday. Lets go Flyers!

Dayton Game notes: https://daytonflyers.com/documents/2...orris_Game.pdf
Offense is mostly as expected, but there are a few interesting tidbits from the defensive 2-deep:
1. CB-Starting a true freshmen (Christian Kelly);
2. LB-Both are seniors who are starting their first game; M. Rightnour was moved to LBer this year and is a little undersized. I suspect others will rotate in quite a bit as the coaches try to find the right combination for this critical position in these early non-conf. games.
3. DE: Senior Dante Steffanini getting the first start of his career. For those of you that don't know, Dante is a multi-talented young man and the team comedian. Take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDn7ZBdv1gA&t=66s

Looks like we have an offense 49 to 28 over Robert morris.
Defense gave up 1 TD each quarter.
Didn't get to see game FB had errors never fixed it.

Jeske out early with knee injury. Jack Cook stepped in and team didn't miss a beat. Didn't really ask (or need) him to throw a lot but thought he looked comfortable running offense. Loved his decision making.
Sean Smith kickoff touchbacks never get old!!

Piqua's little rant aside. Offense showed some real flash. Cook is an able replacement and very well could be the man after Jeske leads us to the playoffs this year(hows that for optimism). Defense is a bit behind the offense, and that is unusual at this point in the season. Hard to really judge overall based on one game but things do look positive. Would like to see RM turn things around this year and show our win to be a good one. As a side note, nice win by Butler at #25 YSU. Good win for the PFL. SEMO lost 48-21 to FBS Arkansas State, it was close at halftime, will be interesting to see how we do.
