While I don't like it, I can't really disagree with their reasoning. The guys we have added so far have to prove they can play on this level and we have to stay healthy.

Fordham lost about 40% of its offense to graduation. I’d like to know what this guy is smoking.

It likely has the the historical distinction of being the only article in recorded history to predict Fordham to win the A10

Any "power ranking" released before you even know who is on the teams, is pure click bait. Looks like it still works.

Yeah, click bait. UD has questions like will Holmes, or Camara, or Sharavjamts return, and how good are the new guys, and aren't there two or three spots still to fill?
Do any other A10 teams have as many questions? Not a rhetorical question, I really would like to know but I'm to lazy to research. Does anybody have a list of what each team is still missing or unsure of?

Yeah, my quick read is that many teams still have spots they can fill. VCU is still out there for sure. St. Louis has two open spots I believe. Duquesne I think is close to full
For me, that article is less about where teams are predicted finish (who knows at this point) but rather a guidepost of where teams are at roster wise
If Fordham sans Quisenberry and Moore is the best team on paper right now, I like UD's chances

Welcome to
NIL basketball. It will probably be a long, long time before Dayton is NCAA eligible as an At Large. The Power Five are in charge of basketball.

This is total nonsense. We have no idea who is playing for whom yet. I will say this though, if we really do come in 7th, I will be almost certainly jump on the fire Grant bandwagon.

SLU #11...if that plays out, then I assume that will be the end of the road for Coach Ford, they didn't make him the A10's highest paid coach so that they could make 1 ncaat in 8 years

There are quite a few intra-conference transfers. Just still feels awkward playing against coaches and players that you used to play with. Now you have to worry about rival coaches within the conference taking your players.

Pretty remarkable that Mark Schmidt has as many tournaments in the last six years as Ford and Grant combined have in their tenures in the A10

I don't agree but if you are right, better buckle in because the concept of individuals being able to profit off their own name and image isn't going anywhere, nor should it. I get that you are frustrated by the changes but at this point it is what it is and I don't understand the point in continually bringing it up. It would be like if I was constantly lamenting how inexpensive cotton used to be. Are you in favor of the alternative? (forbidding kids from profiting off their own person while others are allowed to, I am obviously not asking if you are in favor of slavery and not insinuating that you are)

I am all in favor of NIL, if a company wants to hire a recognizable player to be their spokesman, that's great! What i think we are all against is businesses buying players for their local team.

Again, I am going to just point out that you want the NCAA to find a way to keep people who are earning billions (collectively) for other people from earning money off their own name, image and likeness because it "harms" your fan experience. I get it. The game is not and will never be the same but come on! We are talking about basic freedoms here that all the rest of us have.

I never said any of that. I support the players earning money for their likeness. I'm simply saying if the NCAA was interested in enforcing their own rules around NIL, like that it can't be used as a recruiting inducement, they could. But they aren't interested in that. It doesn't have to be a free for all.

I apologize if I misunderstood your post, but how do you police that? Kid gets an offer from a collective or a local business not from the school. I get that schools will play dirty but they were doing that before with little or no consequence, seems like it would be easier to keep an eye on when it is happening in the light of day I also understand that there have been kids and will certainly be many more who have made it clear that they are going wherever they can make the most money. You and I might find that distasteful but there's nothing you can do about it, just like I can't do anything about it when one of my employees leave because they get offered more money to work somewhere else. These are decisions that we all make and deal with every day.

It's been an under the table free for all for some teams for quite a while. Now everyone can, and most will, get in on the action. Not a fan of rent-a-player but that's where we are going. Harder for me to form an attachment to a team, including the Flyers, given the new landscape.

They can get rid of the 1 free transfer option, with the exception of coaching changes or hardship. That will eliminate NIL poaching.

I don’t think it’ll completely eliminate NIL poaching, but I think that’s a reasonable change to the current landscape. Lots of employment contracts are written to contain Non-Compete clauses. What’s wrong with requiring a “student” athlete to wait a year if nothing has changed other than the kid’s attitude toward the program that recruited him/her?

NIL has done very little to solve the problem of financial distribution equity referenced by some. In some ways, much of what we are seeing with NIL has occurred for decades under the program formerly know as cheating.
Any substantive money afforded by NIL is still limited to very few athletes in just a few sports. The majority still are still getting little to no piece of the pie so how is it fair to the star tennis or lacrosse players? Sure more are getting something now but nowhere near an equitable portion.
Until/Unless athletes unionize and can collectively bargain for a significant portion of the real money, they will really share only in the crumbs as the NIL money isn't even coming from the billions being shared by the schools, athletic departments, and administrators/coaches.

Are you proposing "equity" in NIL income? All Olympic sport players sharing equally with the major income sport players?

I am not proposing that. Since it's NIL I guess it's fair that the #1 chess player get less or nothing since he/she has less NIL value than FB or BB regardless of how much money the chess team may pull in.
In the NFL/NBA/MLB there are minimum salaries but NIL does not make that happen or insure that players in revenue sports get something and that it would be equitable to the level of skill, talent, contribution etc.
I guess I'm saying from what I've heard, it's just more of the rich getting richer where are few kids are making loads and many/most not so much. It's probably nice they are getting something when they got nothing before. I just wonder how long that will last.

The #1 chess player doesn't get less regardless of how much money the chess team pulls in. The #1 chess player gets less exactly because of how much less the chess team pulls in.
It's fair to the star tennis or lacrosse player, because the star tennis or lacrosse player isn't worth anything...financially speaking. The majority are getting little to no piece of the pie because their NIL (name, image, and likeness) isn't worth anything.

Actually, there are lacrosse players signing NIL contracts because of the financial value they bring. Also, the NIL deals aren’t just from car dealerships. Athletes can now make money doing camps, which is not insignificant. It’s much better than working as a lifeguard during the summer.

This might have been posted already. Dayton is an 11 seed, the A10 autobid winner, we are the only A10 team getting a bid.
