So heading to ChiTown, then home for a bit, then to SC all before the Thanksgiving Holiday. I like it.

These are great games to get. Winable game on the road which if accomplished will almost assuredly be a Q1 win.

Great game. Much better than the United Center that is 1/4 full (which I understand is necessary sometimes)

Love it for our quad one opportunities, as well as for our Chicago alumni. That said, I hope it’s not a game that the Big Ten will relegate to Peacock as part of their new deal.

Another year of at least 15 away/neutral games:

3 neutral in Charleston
Cincinnati neutral
At SMU
At NW
9 A10 away games

Well done Neil! Excellent job with making the necessary ooc scheduling adjustments. The A10 has really fallen back, you have to strengthen the ooc schedule to give yourself a better chance at an at large bid.

Again, where is the big ticket price increase that EVERYBODY on here for years and years and years predicted would happen if we went 16/15 or 15/15?

And I thought EVERYBODY on here for years and years and years said that we could never do 16/15 or 15/15 due to the lost revenue? Boy, EVERYBODY on here was sooooo wrong about that for years and years and years. All those people were just spewing nonsense bs for forever!!!

I was at that game in 97. I remember it being a pretty exciting game. NW had Evan Eschmeyer. He had a huge game. UD got the W. Eschmeyer was from one of the small towns north of Dayton, so he had a huge cheering section.

And what about all the total bs that EVERYBODY on here was posting for years and years and years that nobody wanted to schedule a home and home series or a neutral game with us because we are just so doggone good and/or UD Arena is such an intimidating venue so everybody was afraid to play us?

What an absolute load of total sh*t that was!!!

The crap that EVERYBODY on here was posting about scheduling for years and years and years was just such complete and total idiotic nonsense junk!!!

We should've started playing a 16/15 or 15/15 schedule 20 years ago instead of just last year. But better late than never!!!

Great job Neil!!!

He was from New Knoxville, or Ka-Noxville, as many up here call it.

OK, maybe not many, maybe just me.

I was at the NW game at the United Center. What a debacle. It was over before it started. We got it close late but game was lost in first half.

Is it AT ALL possible that with a first round pick in Obi and a very possible first round pick in Holmes next year, along with a continued progression of the perception of the program over time (let's not forget we were ranked pre-season last year before the injuries), that just MAYBE today's perception of the Flyers is changing compared to 20 years ago?

I mean, don't get be wrong, I loved Keith W, Frank the Tank, and Sean Finn in 2003. Which round did they get drafted again, my Google is broken.

What about 3 NCAAT appearances in 5 years under OP and BG? Or 4 straight ncaat appearances under Archie? None of that improved our reputation? I call major bs.

Is it even hypothetically possible that there is a tipping point that is greater than what you listed?

There could, hypothetically, be a continuum rather than a binary outcome? So, if we can agree that a single NCAA appearance is not enough, but being NCAA champions is far too much, there exists a tipping point somewhere between those 2 points.

And maybe, just maybe, that tipping point is to the right of a couple NCAA tournament appearances (with no wins) under OP, a pretty lucky win under BG, and had just hit the point under AM but then he left (stepping us backward), and now we are just starting to get to the right of the tipping point?

Maybe, just maybe, the facts are different than they were "20 years ago"?

Nope, no we cannot agree on that point. It is my contention that we could've and should've been scheduling, for the past 20 years, like we have been for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons.

This is very binary to me. I see no reason why this couldn't and shouldn't have been happening.

UD is one of the best/strongest non-p5 programs in the country, we have fringe-top 25 attendance, strong facilities, strong men's basketball coaching staff pay/compensation, and strong tradition, we are a p5 program in a non-p5 league. We would not have had any trouble finding additional good teams to be willing to play us in home and home series.

The success we had at the end of OP's tenure/the beginning of BG's tenure and during Archie's tenure was more than enough to attract interest.

What's more, the fact that we are able to schedule stronger like this now and last season, even though good ooc opportunities are drying up more and more due to p5 20 game league schedules, p5 teams creating their own home court 4 team mini-tournament events, p5 teams competing in "challenge"-type events vs. other p5 leagues such as the ACC/Big Ten challenge, and p5 teams competing in the Thanksgiving, Christmas, or other typically 3 game exempt tournaments held at various locations both in the US and in places like the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands, indicates that good opportunities were available over the last 20 years.

OOC opportunities were much more plentiful 20 years ago with 16 game p5 league schedules, fewer of these conference vs. conference challenges, and fewer of these home court-based p5 mini tournaments.

We should've been all over those additional opportunities to get good games, but instead we were foolishly focused on getting the additional revenue from one more home buy game and in some seasons two additional buy games vs. a junk opponent(s).

This was a classic case of short term greed taking precedence over what was good for the long term benefit of the program.

I absolutely think those two additional tougher games per year(we would've gained two good games, one at home and one away, by dropping the additional buy game and replacing it with two h/h series, one game being at home each year and one game being away each year), would've made a big positive difference for the program.

It is only now, when we have been forced into a corner by the decline of the A10, are we doing what we should've been doing for the last 20 years.

The point is that it doesn't matter how you look at it, the issue isn't binary so a binary solution or binary 'reasoning' won't work.

Yours is a solution looking for a problem. When in the past 20 years has UD's schedule kept them from having an opportunity to get an at-large bid, and most years, with plenty of wiggle room.

2 years ago is the perfect example. 3 300+ home losses and everyone said it was done. Yet, even with a bad loss at GMU AND late loss at Lasalle they were a sprained ankle or a Davidson loss from still making the tourney as an at large.

This past year however they did it your way and look what happened. The at large chances were over almost before they started. Was the new 15/15 model to blame? Of course not but it also didn't deliver on your near promise.

Last year's failure was the same as every other year in the last 20 where no bid was attained. It had nothing to do with the schedules and all to do with a lack of execution against the schedules.
