Many more opponents with regional appeal. Oh well, I hope we make the most of it. 1-2 against them all time. 86, 87, 2012.

Really excited about that. I was pretty vocal about being high on Wright (or just being high?). I'm very glad we have Crutcher and excited to see them head to head.
Not that the outcome of this game says anything about one over the other, but should be fun to watch. Go Flyers!

3 hour direct flight. We haven't played since approximately 930 Friday. I rather play in Boulder than Norwood. Toledo may take care of business and we could host next weekend.
Metrics
NET Colorado 66 Dayton 69
Kenpom Dayton 60 Colorado 65
BPI Dayton 54 Colorado 81
I bet we will be a 2 point favorite to a 3 point dog.

Playing at altitude will be a problem.
Seems like a winnable game.
Their 2 best wins are Arizona State and Oregon in Boulder.
Their schedule with the rpi ranking of their opponents for every game this year:
http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_143_Men.html
Hard to say which Flyers team will show up.
Likely game at Alabama if we win.

Toledo would have to defeat X at Cintas and #2 Texas in Austin, Texas and we would have to defeat Colorado in Boulder and then #1 Alabama at their place in order for us to get a home game with the Rockets!

Wouldn’t it be cool if they would allow allow all players to play in non-NCAA tournament games. All teams would be able to get a good look at what they have for next year and there would be no harm done.

Like I remember in high school, back when freshmen were not allowed to play on the varsity but they were allowed in the post season tournament. I remember back when St. X had four super frosh in about 1962. Was fun to see them get the chance to play with the big boys.
The "season" is over, why not let the red shirts play? They waited out the season.

Kenpom stats. Line is usually set off of that. We are +11.48 to their +10.42 in Adjusted efficiency margin. The line on a neutral court would be us by 1. So we will likely be 2-3 point dogs (3-4 home court).
Kenpom has not posted his prediction yet.
Colorado 68- 65 ( just posted)

They would look at the team the Flyers could put on the floor and exclaim, "What did Dayton do?" "Did they recruit a bunch of players from the G League!" They are going to be loaded for bear next season!

Strange to say, but they look far less consistent than us, with more “good” wins, but also more “bad” losses. I can see why the selection committee paired us with the Buffs, and why they’re at home and we’re not. Has the potential to be a good game.

Colorado was 13-2 at home and 5-8 away. Their OOC schedule was terrible, and of course the PAC was weak this year. Having said that, to play at late night, on the road, at high altitude, with a possibly hurting Obi, will not be easy.

It's D1 NCAA basketball, in March. If you play anything game anticipating easy, things like Friday happen and you get humiliated. No excuses. Buck up, or we're back to "wait until next year" again.

So we could have a series of interesting matches...
Colorado game holds some interest with Wright vs Crutcher.
Alabama - AG vs his old employer.
Xavier - old rivals.
Butler - show the Big East we belong.
Indiana (Archie) or Wright State.
That would be a nice road to an NIT win.

True, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. That happened last Friday, and we all saw how well that worked.
First things first: let’s win at Colorado tomorrow night.

Lots of potential matchups of interest there:
-Maybe Xavier, our long-time nemesis.
-Maybe Alabama, AG’s former employer.
-Maybe Texas, coached by AG’s successor at VCU and former Dayton assistant Shaka Smart. And, of course,
-Our opening round matchup against former Dayton recruit McKinley Wright.
And the only one that matters today is the last one. Lose to Colorado, and the rest of it is more “coulda, woulda, shoulda”. So, the objective is clear...
BEAT COLORADO!

Hey UD2, not to flame you, because I think you’re an intelligent poster. But I’m curious if you now think we’re on schedule (or ahead) with AG, given the NIT bid you predicted we wouldnt get? You certainly can’t say we’re behind schedule since the Flyers accomplished something you said they couldn’t.
For what it’s worth, and to put my cards on the table, I think we’re on or slightly ahead of schedule but acknowledge that some of AG’s coaching is such that the jury’s still out.

Potential money to be made - Pomeroy prediction 68-66 - Colorado is second in Pomeroy's Homecourt advantage at 4.5 That is where the range I quoted came from. 2 point favorite to 3 point dog. Neutral Court Dayton would be favored by 2. -4.5 for home court and you have 68-66.
Opening line was -2.5. Money has since moved the line. I expect it will settle in around -3.5. ESPN is picking the Flyers at +4.
If our perimeter shooting rims out like it did early several times against SLU we are in trouble.

Opening line was -2.5. Money has since moved the line. I expect it will settle in around -3.5. ESPN is picking the Flyers at +4.
If our perimeter shooting rims out like it did early several times against SLU we are in trouble.

Going into SLU game I thought our 3 pt shooting would be critical for a win (plus rebounding). I’m inclined to say the same for this game. I haven’t done a lot of research, but they have a 7’ + 6’11” + two 6’10” young players. I don’t think they are as physical as SLU and I think we are more athletic if we’re healthy. I’m hoping 20 year olds can handle the travel/altitude. Should be a good game.
GO FLYERS!

I fully expect Indiana to pull out a win in the second half, but still!

Watching Wright State for the first time this year. They look good. Good ball movement.

Wright State loses late; Lipscomb takes down Davidson. Archie’s Hoosiers run over St. Francis in the second half.

Is Patrick Ewing just channeling his inner John Thompson, or did he eat John Thompson?

#8 seed Norfolk St. defeated #1 seed Alabama in overtime tonight 80-79! We would have had a home game had we beat Colorado!
