Depth
Depth...
Maybe our depth is starting to pay dividends. I've questioned the 11 man rotation by Archie all year, but maybe he's been right all along. Maybe we're starting to see some of the fruits of our balance and depth.
St. Louis looked like a tired basketball team last night. Jett is obviously not 100%. Evans looks a bit banged up too. The starting 5 for St. Louis have logged a lot of minutes this year, maybe they're just running out of gas.
On the flip side, UD looks relatively healthy. Kari Price isn't 100%, but Scoochie is starting to step up. I really believe Scoochie is starting to blossom right in front of our eyes. Kyle Davis played some big minutes last night too and Pollard might be really special down the road. The kid is really good at finishing around the basket. Robinson stepped up big time last night. I had no idea he was a good three point shooter. Do we have a big guy that can stretch the floor? That's something we've never had at UD before. Are we starting to see this team mature?
Saturday game is huge. We can't afford a let down. Here is hoping the students turn out and we can get 13K in the Arena. Make the students camp out for tickets!
In someways this season is reminiscent of the 1984 season. That '84 team struggled most of the regular season too and needed a come from behind win over a ranked DePaul just to get into the NCAA field. That team got hot at the right time too. Thirty years later could history be repeating itself?

Pollard, Evans, Scoochie, and J-Rob really stepped up in key moments last night. The team is playing great ball at the right time, and these younger guys are developing. I really believe the future is bright with this team, and the talent will keep improving. I'm 100% behind Archie (not to say I haven't been frustrated with him at times). He has this team going and he's getting everyone involved. The chemistry is great. Let's make a run Flyers!!!

Depth was a big factor last night. St. Louis did not have their usual spring in their defensive step. UD also wore them down with their defensive play. (When was the last time you heard that?)

Robinson can be better than Oliver if he puts in the time. The main thing he lacks is dribbling.

If he is going to be better than DMO it isn't a matter of skill it's a matter of wanting it more than anyone else on the floor. A lot of players are more skilled than Devin but very few play with his passion and energy.

Believe the students are on break. May need a plan b to fill the student section.

This is when being able to go 11-deep can truly provide benefits. Players are healthy, and we do not have to exhaust our starters who will be playing more frequently in the A-10 championships and beyond.
Putting the SJU game aside, the team seems to be getting it together at the right time.

Robinson can possibly become a 13 and 7 player. And is totally different player than DMO.
DMO gets us assists, energy, loose balls, some outside shooting this year.
You're comparing a post player to an All Around wing player. And a very good one at that.

I think you hit it on the head. We were INTENSE on defense. More than I've seen all year. Fresh legs helped for sure. Making them work so hard on offense took that spring out of their step.
Reminded me of a BG coached team on d-fense, but with a potent offense too.

The further we go in the A10 tourney the more valuable our depth will be. The performances of Davis and Pollard were huge last night. Hoping they gained confidence that they can contribute. Wish they could make free throws.
Archie did a great job managing KP's minutes. He made the key FT's at the end.

One of my criticisms of this years Dayton team is that we often let our offensive performance dictate our defensive effort. In other words, if we aren't making shots our effort on the defensive end is lacking. On the flip side, when we are making our shots we seem to play with better energy on defense. That may just be a symptom of being a young team, but I'm hoping we can keep up our effort on the defensive side off the ball.

If he's going to be as good or better than DO, or just a good player, he needs to play the F position and not the C position....He's been misused for 2 years and I understand why as we had nobody else a year ago and were getting nothing out of the C position until the last 10 games or so..
