New OHSAA transfer rule

https://www.daytondailynews.com/spor...3RbSePMGavlNP/

Transfers can play the first half of the year but are ineligible the 2nd half of the season and for any postseason play.

Could the NCAA do something similar?

That is an amazing way of thinking outside the box. They still let the kid play, but not when the school wants him most.

It says, "players who don't meet exemptions." What are the exemptions?

Typically an exemption would be a kid who moves because of parents getting transferred due to a job relocation....

Good stuff. I think the best part about the stuff I read yesterday is that other states are looking at the Ohio model. Competitive balance can get out of hand at the HS level...ask those in the GWOC.

Because they are barred from the 2019 State Tourney in basketball, it'll be interesting to see where and how the Dunbar players react to this. Do they stay put? Will they move? Will they stay put but say they moved? How many PO Boxes will be opened in the next month? Is CJ about to become a D2 powerhouse?

Inquiring minds want to know. Someone will find a loophole and it will be exploited. It always works that way.

We all know the power schools pull the same crap...Springfield, Wayne, Trotwood...

They do what CJ did back in the 90's....

It will only be a matter of time until the NAACP steps in and says that the new OHSAA transfer rule - like everything else - "disproportionately affects minorities and people of color".

Here is the exception list. Most transfers will be able to find one of these twelve to work for them.

I would think a transfer from a public school to a parochial school and vice versa is what this is all about.

Interesting that Garfield Hts, that has been a transfer meca for good basketball players, already has had the requirement that you live in the school district.
