LETS GET IT - Does not sounds like a guy who is planning on redshirting this year. Also, I thought he could not return until 12/20? Nothing wrong with heading back early, meeting with the coaches, working out, and catching up with the guys. WELCOME HOME DP
My prediction: He will be ready to go and make a impact in Miami game and be starting by Arkansas.

I think after the coaches’ evaluations he will be on the court soon. These guys have a high drive and DP’s drive seems to be well above average so I know he was getting in some good workouts. Being in metro Toronto I bet he got in some good scrimmage time with some pros, ex-pros and some high level former college and high school players. My only concern will be the mental aspect of learning where he should be on the floor in relation to his teammates and dealing with the aftermath of all of this.

Maybe he had to take a dump and chose the most appropriate spot.

I suppose it's possible, I just looked, they do have an opening, they only have 12 guys on scholarship as of right now, and they've still got one opening for next year if he were to wait until next year to finish out his career. I can't believe this would happen though, no way.
Also, nitpicking, but DYT is the airport code for the Sky Harbor Airport in Duluth, Minnesota. DAY is the aiport code for Dayton. Lol.

Just as I had confirmed with my source about 6 weeks ago, it was only a matter of time as the back and forth in the media from both parties was nothing but a formality before Pierre returned to the court. Behind closed doors, it was never in doubt he was returning.
Whether he starts or not right off the bat is the only question.
I tend to follow my source, as I've never been led down the wrong path, so my prediction goes as follows.
Miami = 0-10 minutes (depends on flow of game, could be more - especially if blow out)
Arkansas = 12-20 minutes
Dukes = 16-24 minutes
UMass = 22-30 minutes.
He will be staying in town for Christmas working with the staff. I'm 50/50 on if he starts vs. Miami or not, but I believe he will be starting before the UMass game.

Open the picture. He's in our locker room, and it says PIERRE to the top right.
Not sure what people are reading these days anymore.

Do you have a link(s) to the tweets?
Also, somebody just told me that X just got a player from Canada, Eddie is his first name. Can't remember the last name. Case of mistaken identity?

Eddie Ekiyor, he is from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, class of 2016. Sounds like he took a circuitous path to get to Xavier, something about signing? in October 2015, but he is just now getting to campus?
Anyway, I bet this was what the posts upthread were about.
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/spor...ey=&autologin=
cincinnati.com:
Xavier's roster will grow by one by the end of this month.
Eddie Ekiyor, a 6-foot-8 forward from Canada, is in the process of enrolling at the university. Coach Chris Mack said the player will be on campus Dec. 27. He'll start practicing with the team when his paperwork is finished, possibly Dec. 29.
Ekiyor will travel to road games this season but will most likely redshirt. He'll join forward RaShid Gaston, a Norfolk State transfer who is practicing with the Musketeers during his sit-out season.

UD doesn't compete in the top four of A10 if Pierre should redshirt. At-least not based on current offensive sets....not happening.

Ehhh I don't think that's true. Besides GW and Davidson, who would you argue is better?
No doubt we were in a slump for 3 straight halfs starting in the Chatanooga game, but 2nd half last night was much better and we have proven based on SOS and who we've beaten we can play with just about anybody.
We're in a slump bc Scoochie is in a slump but we'll be fine with or without DP.
But obviously with him is better!

I don't think it is a case of who is better. GWU, Davidson and UD appear to be tops so far and I am not sure what the story is with Rhode Island. Based on the OOC games so far, I think it is more of a case that a lot of teams seemed to have improved and A10 will be tougher. I would like to see DP as soon as possible because we play Davidson on 1/12 and GWU on 1/15. Even though both games are at home, I want DP on the floor for some part of the game.

We were far more in a slump not because of SS but because of a lack of shooting 3's and defending 3's...Giving up a minimum of 7-8 a game and a good shooting % and making only 3-4 maximum at a terrible shooting % is huge in any college BB game and almost against any team......Add in bad FT shooting and there you have it.....
DD is huge for this team and watching him knock down deep shots saturday is the real key for them..It creates the ability to penetrate for easy buckets and to get the ball inside...DD is a player that should be averaging 10-11 ppg....Getting Mikesell involved a bit more gives them another nice shooting touch from deep and allows SS to run the offense the way it needs to be run..

The story with Rhode Island is they lost their best player and future NBA draft pick, E.C. Mathews, for the year with a torn ACL.

Not going to disagree with the FT stats. We haven't been good (although Saturday was better). And I don't think our D has been that bad...we held Chatanooga to 61pts in our building. We need to win that game.
But on the offensive end, it all starts with Scoochie. I love SS but his numbers over the last 3 games...
31min per game average
11/30 FG - 36% (5/13 3pt 38%)
12 Assists / 6 TO 2:1 Ratio
4/7 FT - 56%
Those numbers are not atrocious by any means, but when he is option A and B at PG, we simply need him to be better. Nearly half of his FG attempted are 3, and with only 7 FT attempted, we need him to get to the basket and convert on the shots within 5 feet. That will create a higher FG%, more FT attempts, and free up his teammates for more assists.
Since this is a DP thread, to not completely derail it...I think the addition of DP in the lineup will help SS with a lot of this stuff do to his ability to space the floor.

As good as Scooch is going to the basket, he seems hesitant at times to do it, or to take a shot, unless he is wide open or the shot clock is gone. With the shot clock down, he should be option 1 or 2. Too many times the ball ends up in Pollard's hands 20 feet from the basket.

Agreed.
Also I will say we need to try something else at the end of the game/half. Against Chatanooga the final play was give it to SS and let him go 100MPH towards the basket. Same thing at end of half vs Furman. Unfortunately both times yielded similar results.

Amen. It is usually better to give the ball to someone else, and pick for the guy you want to take the shot.
We miss Sibert taking a 25 footer in those situations. We hope Davis becomes that man.

You are a great fan with great insight, and I love all your post. But realistically, when has UD ever dominated the A10, and not had to fight like heck to finish in the top three or four? If you can struggle against william and mary, monmouth, north Florida, and Chattanooga, you can struggle with any and all A10 teams. This is UD we are talking about; and dominating schools like Duquesne has never been easy for flyers. The nightly grind in the A10 will be as tough as ever.

The Dayton managers run the True Team Snapchat account (a social media account to share pictures and videos) and they just posted a quick six second video of Pierre practicing with the team and the caption "27 hours till game time".

Steve does not go to the bench. He is planted as the post player. Pierre might not start for a while.
My best guess would be Kyle or Charles loses a starting spot. Total minutes played will be much more important than starting.

Pierre may not start right away, but you can bet that at some point the starting lineup is going to go back to what it would have been at the start of the year:
SS, KD, CC, DP, KP
Your best five guys are going to start. Last year proved we don't need a true post player. Having Steve is great, he provides much needed interior defense and rebounding, but I would much rather go small with the above lineup. It creates mismatches, DP and KP are too quick for other post players to defend, and those guys have the chemistry to play their best together.

As of today, the front court minutes have been distributed thusly:
Pollard at 26 mpg
Steve at 23 mpg
XWilliams at 16 mpg
SMiller at 11 mpg
Wehrli at 5 mpg
Five guys covering two spots on the floor. With Pierre returning, I don't think you have to get too fancy with it. The above goes out the window, and the trio of Pollard/Pierre/Steve end up playing 70 of the 80 available minutes per game, by the time Pierre is back to full speed (hopefully in about a month's time).
I could not care less about who starts, and which of the three has to come off the bench. As to exactly how you divvy up the minutes? Play it smart in terms of match-ups and game context, and I did like the suggestion in another thread about trying to limit the amount of time where both Pollard and Steve are on the floor together. And maybe if the match-ups or foul issues dictate, Pierre can move to SF, Cooke to SG, and make it so that DDavis/Mikesell see a few less minutes, and not just Williams/Miller. I dunno, but I think the larger picture is pretty easy (Pierre/Pollard/Steve = 70 mpg) and I'll leave it to Archie to figure out the piddling details....

Well if you look at Pierre's Twitter is shows an airport and a passport depicting he is on his way. My post which shows that he is now listed on the roster shows that he has now arrived! So glad I could help explain.

This is Dave Jablonski's Twitter but still a good update: https://mobile.twitter.com/DavidPJab...93220836438017
On @WHIORadio right now with @larryhansgen, Archie Miller says Pierre looks good in practice and has provided energy boost for whole team.

And if Pierre wasn't on his way to Dayton, his minutes would be zero. The fact he was on his way and he's now here, his minutes will go up. Thus, he went from zero minutes to a possibility of 40. We're just trying to figure out how many.

"Miller told ESPN that while he is unlikely to play Pierre on Tuesday night at home against Miami-Ohio, the 6-6 senior will likely make his season debut after Christmas against the Razorbacks."

There was no dartboard on my "guesses" - just as my source told me, 0-10 minutes vs. Miami. Follow my timeline below, because that WILL be his timeline of minutes, with a slight variation due to game flow.
Also, according to source this morning it's still 50/50 whether he starts or not from game 1, Archie is working on lineup schemes the next 10 days.
Cheers.

Whether he starts or not right off the bat is the only question.
I tend to follow my source, as I've never been led down the wrong path, so my prediction goes as follows.
Miami = 0-10 minutes (depends on flow of game, could be more - especially if blow out)
Arkansas = 12-20 minutes
Dukes = 16-24 minutes
UMass = 22-30 minutes.
He will be staying in town for Christmas working with the staff. I'm 50/50 on if he starts vs. Miami or not, but I believe he will be starting before the UMass game.
