What a great interview! Listening to that interview was like taking a stroll through Flyer basketball history. And who better to walk with us than Don Donoher. Kudos as well to Mike Goodpaster who did the interview. He not only knew his Flyer history but also general basketball history.
Heartfelt best wishes to Coach Donoher as he deals with his wife's dementia. I was told that since his wife went into the nursing home memory unit, he would spend a large part of every day with her. Now, as he noted in the podcast, because of the virus restrictions he cannot even visit her. Life is not fair.

Clearly, basketball and tournaments were very different then.

Great interview...we have been so lucky to have some great and morally upstanding coaches in our school history!

One of the greatest days of my life, right behind marriage and children's birth was the day I got to spend four hours in Don's home conducting an interview. He was reluctant to do it at first (we were just scheduled for one hour) but then really opened up and talked about just about everything. It was great to go back to the Blackburn days first hand. We have been so lucky to have him as part of the University.

Great interview. Loved the Al McQuire story. But very disappointed the interviewer never brought up the Donald Smith era!

In the interview, it seemed like Donoher tried to swing the conversation that way when mentioning 1974 and the triple OT with UCLA and Walton. Interviewer didn't take the cue.

Strong words from Coach Donoher when he said he "would bet his life on it" when asked if he thought AG would be someone that stays at Dayton for the rest of his career.

Great Interview. Some heart warming spots. I was in the Fieldhouse for the 1st game coached by Don Donoher , March 1964.

Bud Meadows
I was a freshman at UD in 1965, and went to my first basketball game in the old fieldhouse. I remember thinking “Boy that coach sure looks young”. Don was always a consummate professional and a true gentleman. When he was an Assistant Coach for the US Olympic Team in 1984, I remember telling my two sons about watching Coach Donahue way back in 1965.
