Possible Gem City Jam in the NCAAs? WSU beats # 1
Seed!! Love the hometown teams doing so well.
Ohio St seems like they have the potential (when healthy)
To win a game or two in the tourney as well
Could be a good year for Ohio hoops. I’m not
Local anymore but I always represent UD and Ohio

That was a semi. They still have to beat NKU.
So far only OSU looks to be in, but an Ohio school should come out of the Ohio heavy MAC. So could be a good year if UD, WSU and X also get in.

The winner of the NKU/WSU final will be a 16 seed. Pretty sure we won't be a 16 if we win the A10 tourney. Likewise, I don't think we make it at all if we don't.

Nku/wsu will not be a 16 seed. 14 at worst. There are far worst conferences that get in.

Absolutely impossible that they'll be a 16. These aren't nobody teams and there are worse conferences than the Horizon.

Horizon currently #27 in the NET out of 32 conferences, could be a 15 seed.

Last night I flipped over to the end of the NKU game. It was just in time to hear Mark Adams literally begging fans who live in Dayton/Cincinnati to attend the game tonight.
Indiana Farmers Arena was practically empty for the games there. If WSU/NKU can't bother to show up for a championship game taking place next door to us in a tiny 6500 seat gym, that really speaks volumes about the state of their programs.
The only reason I would ever be excited about playing Wright State is if we were the #1 seed playing them as a #16 seed, and it would really only be because we were a #1 seed. Otherwise we will never play them in the NCAAs.

Whomever wins b/w NKU & WSU will end up around 185 in the NET (both currently 192/193 atm), and mabye 185 is generous with just 1 game left, maybe not.
I looked at the projected 15 seed on Lunadri's bracket:
Georgia St (159 net)
Colgate (132 net)
Jax St (139 net)
Long Beach St (155 net)
16 seeds:
Nichols (189 NET)
Alcorn St (262 NET)
UNCW (172 NET)
Bryant (215 NET)
Norfolk St (150 NET)
I'm not going to pretend that I've watched all those teams, so I'm only using NET as an easy metric to compare them to, but both NKU and WSU seem to fit in the 16 seed range. May still be some chances for a 200+ NET team to win their conference championship and move either up to the 15 seed line. Traditionally the Horizon has been at least a 14 seed, and often better, but there has been a ton of turnover and a lot of teams really struggling this year. Even a team like WSU who has arguably the best coach in that league struggle OOC big time this season before finally putting things together down the stretch.
Lukas Harkins, one of the best bracketologist out there has NKU in the playin game vs Nichols.

The HL has gotten significantly worse...they replaced Butler, Loyola, and Valpo with IUPUI, IPFW, and Robert Morris, that dragged them down.
I have no idea what the attraction to IUPUI, IPFW, and Robert Morris was. There were likely better options than adding those 3 IMO. Might have been better off adding nobody.

Indy, Pittsburgh and I guess the Fort Wayne markets. I wonder how hard various schools in the Horizon recruit those markets for their general student base.
I would figure Indy and Pitt would be automatic recruitment areas for Youngstown St, Cleveland St, Wright State, UDM, etc... though I have no clue how much. I know UD recruits their general student population from both of those areas pretty hard.

I know a big part of it was they had to add baseball schools. They were under the minimum number of baseball schools to get an at large after Butler left. But to be honest, who else would they add? Not really any good choices. I know they tried for years for Belmont and Murray State and both held out for the MVC which was a good move on their part. Not really any other viable options for the Horizon in the Midwest.

Fair enough...if they are looking to stay just in the Midwest, then the options are very limited. I don't like any of their options under that scenario, best to stay put at 9, but if they were forced to expand due to baseball, Bellarmine or maybe Morehead State are the only ones that I remotely like, that's 11 if those 2 will even accept the invite. IUPUI I guess is better than IPFW or Robert Morris, that's 12.
They have 12 teams now.
If they want to expand past the Midwest, then there are several other options.
Do you have a link to the baseball rule?
And the HL was better before this year's #27 rank.
2021...#20
2020...#21
2019...#18
2018...#25
2017...#21...last year with Valpo...Loyola and Butler left before 2017.
I only looked at 5 years back.

Good for them. WSU isn’t a threat at
all to UD. Don’t recruit head to head. I love the Gem City and hope
they do well. 16 seed

Lurch and his boys gave it to WSU in the second half. WSU in the double bonus and only committed 4 fouls? With as physical as the game was, there is no way there was a 7 foul difference in the second half.

Congrats to WSU. I love Scott Nagy as a coach, I was honestly surprised WSU was able to hire him away; I'm surprised they have been able to keep him around. I believe his youngest son is a walkon still, plus he was at SD state for like 20 years and saw their transition from D2 to D1, so he's probably not one to quickly jump around.
If I was a mid-tier power 5 conference, especially one located in the Mid-West or central South East, I'd try and make him an offer he'd have to think twice about.
15 seed, 16 seed, who cares... They are in the dance and have a shot at glory..... what more can you ask for.

Congrats Coach Nagy and WSU.
Any animosity toward WSU on this board is just noise to me (yes I'm a UD alum). Glad to see something positive for a school that's had a rough go of it the past few years.

I don't know about X, but the MAC's final four are Akron, Toledo, Kent State, & Ohio.

There's a pretty good chance WSU will be a 16 seed. I see no way they could be better than a 15. Keep in mind there are six 16 seeds and four 15 seeds. The Horizon League is terrible, and there is no way there are 10 conferences worse than the Horizon. I'm not even sure there are 6 conferences worse than the Horizon. And WSU finished fourth in the conference.

Dream First Four
I'd love to see WSU in the first four and see UD-X at the Arena. I'd rather not have to play in but a match against our old rival would be a blast. That would fill the arena!
