UNLV pregame location in Vegas?
I’m alumni, but don’t follow the fan pages as closely as I should. Does anyone know where UD fans are pregaming in Vegas on Tuesday? Thanks.

I would love to be there. BUT, if I did a pregame in Vegas.....would never make the game!

I'm curious as to how AG, or UD policy, handles a "business" trip to Vegas. I know the team is focused on the game only, but I also know there are slot machines everywhere, and the temptation must be overwhelming for a college kid in a first time visit. Do they herd the team into hotel rooms with blinders? Or, is it a same day marathon of leaving Dayton at 9am, seeing only the locker room, and returning after the game on the red-eye at about at 5am?
Anybody have any insight or experience? Will AG give each team member one silver dollar and one pull on a slot machine? Or is it total isolation and denial of any possible gambling or carousing?

One dollar slot machines aren't the only thing in Vegas that can sway a young man's focus!!!!

I'll bet a dollar there's a very tight schedule. Meeting at x, walk through at y, tape review at Z, etc. I'm sure the guys will get a couple of hours of walk around time though.
As for my dollar bet, put it on red #15.

Well for starters, I'd imagine many of the kids stick out like a sore thumb if they are walking around the casino. I'm guessing the team isn't staying on the strip and if DaRon Holmes who isn't 21 yet walked up to the craps table in the hotel casino that they are staying in, someone is going to know pretty quickly. Mali, Uhl (awesome reference by the way) or one of the other more "normal size players on the roster might be able to blend in, but most of them wouldn't.
I'm guessing UD/CAG has a pretty tight schedule and since its illegal for many on the team to gamble, I'm guessing they will attempt to keep them away from that, not to mention Cheetah's or Pure Gold. I'd venture that they went out on Sunday to adjust to the time change, and hopefully a couple of organized trips down the strip were planned so they can see what it looks like. Like my wife says "you can look, but don't touch".
There are pretty big AAU events in Vegas IIRC so I'd imagine this isn't the first trip to sin city for some of the players.

I was in that Haufbrau house once upon a time, I think it was fairly new at the time, I had no clue it was that close to UNLV. Might have had a few drinks in me when we walked in, and a few additional when we walked out

When UD played UC in that terrible high school gym Holiday Classic back in 2005, the team stayed at a non-casino hotel. I don't recall which one.
I also don't know if that was a UD policy decision, a BG decision, or someone else.
Northern Iowa and UC stayed at the Paris.

Not a very nice thing to say. I was at those games in 2005. They were at Valley High School, where my wife had graduated from years earlier. Was not a "terrible high school gym". Like most holiday tournaments, they are played in small venues, like Charlestown, Disney, Myrtle Beach .......

As high school gyms go, that wasn't bad. Actually, pretty good size compared to what I grew up in.
The tournament itself was bad. Poorly attended. Poorly promoted. Terrible timing being two days before Christmas. I don't think the games were even televised. Nothing like the ESPN organized events.

While, slot machines are everywhere it seems like there are still quite a few non gaming and non smoking hotels. On the strip they could stay at vdara for condo like arrangements, Waldorf Astoria, or trump tower. Off the strip there are plenty of places as the arena is right beside the airport and a short ride from the strip. I doubt gambling will be an issue

The Charlestown event is played in the 5,100 seat TD Arena.
The Disney event is played in a 5,000 seat arena.
The Myrtle Beach event is played in a 3,370 seat arena.
Those aren't small venues IMO.

Those are tiny. The state of Indiana has at least 25 HS gyms larger than those.

Well then those Indiana high school gyms are bigger than some of the gyms in the A10.
5 A10 teams have an arena that holds less than 5,000:
Duquesne
Fordham
LaSalle
Loyola
SJU

Less than 8000 is a small arena for the kind of program that we have IMO. Glad we have 13k+ for home games.
