Dukes up 7 now, not going to get anything out of CJ today. Best bet seems to put them at the line and hope they miss a bunch more. Their transition running seems to be a lot better than our faux transition game.

Isnt that the calling card of BG's offense since 2003?
Good news is...BG is really consistent!

We are playing the smallest team all year and we continue to shoot 3's and not pound it inside. I have been a huge BG supporter till this year. The guy just cannot coach on offense.
Getting outrebounded by 5. This team is in disarray and starts with the coaches.

I've lost count how many times I've heard Larry say "Bad pass" by Dayton. Seems like for how patient we are at times against other teams, against these guys when we need to be we're doing the opposite.

We're down double digits but its more like a 6-8pt game because of the pace, so we're nowhere close to being out of it. Duquesne will keep the pedal to the metal. If we can get a cpl decent defensive stops, there will be plenty of possessions to get back in this.

There's a difference between 'playing' zone and 'committing to playing' zone. UD 'played' zone versus Richmond. UD also 'played' a little full court trap against Richmond.....for a few possessions. But they never 'committed' to either because BG isn't comfortable with it. If an opponent scores one or two easy buckets, coaches usually go back to what they are comfortable with.
As an assistant, I've been there/done that. I used to plead with our head coach to stay committed to switching defenses throughout the game, but often times head coaches go back to what they are comfortable with. It takes a lot more than to just 'play a zone' here or there to truly be committed to playing it well. I'm sure Xavier worked their tails off all week and committed to playing a zone against Richmond, whereas UD probably works on a little zone each day in practice and simply tried to use it against Duq to see what happens.
Huge difference.

To be clear it is not why we are going to lose BUT it sure seems all the coaches in the A-10 chipped in on a gift for the refs but BG passed doesn't it? I mean holy crap, I know we are not the most agreesive team in the league but game after game the first 10 fouls in a half go 7 or 8 on us and then the refs have to react and call make up calls on the other team to keep it from looking bad. It's nuts I do not understand it. It happens at home and on the road.

I am thinking I would ask "where is the defense?" We could always count on the defense.

I guess the real problem this year is we have a coach who hangs his hat on his team playing lockdown defense and we just do not have the players to do that anymore. It is still his fault as he brought in these guys but more and more it seems the defense is what is killing us.

Dukes up 20!
Just think if they could shoot FT's 9 for 20.

This is expected when you have a team which is not any good playing one of the top teams in the league. This shows how far UD is from winning the league anytime soon.

Exactly, this game, especially the second half, has been about bad defense and bad rebounding. They have killed us on the offensive glass, especially in the first half.

When your leader[s) lose their leadership skills, it does not matter who you have on the floor. We know BG cannot coach on offense, but I really question whether he has the leadership skills to pull us out of this. He's looking like the BP Chairman after the spill.

Be careful some people may jump all over you for bring up the "T" word, but IMO I would not blame anyone for leaving. Imagine if JS played with true basketball players in a system with some vision.

If anything Staten would transfer before BG ever gets fired. Question is: would that be enough to get BG on the hot seat for real?

Dukes - 76 Flyers - 59 3:33 to go. Dare I say that there is still hope?

No but what skill set to we possess to change things? We are not X, or Zaga. Most nights we have at most 1 guy, and typically no-one that can take his guy off the dribble. We don't have solid ball handlers outside of JS quite honestly. That right there limits the options.
Most of the bigs are not strong with the ball and don't have good hands, nor do they typically get good position so throwing it into the paint really isn't an option.
Face the facts - the skill level on the team is not what many think.
Personally, I'd start using BS and DO much more or next year could be a lot uglier than this year has been at times. It has to be hard for RH to understand why he isn't playing with the lack of defensive effort that has been shown accross the board today.

Finally got some stats - what's the deal with Searcy only playing 7 minutes and Kav zero? Big men flu?

BG will take a mid level Big 10 or Big East job JS will transfer we will lose several recruits and we will be dreadful for 3 years. I guess this is what people on here want. To be honest I am torn. What promises are there the new coach wil be better? Let me throw this question out
Would you rather have a good recruiter or a good coach?

I'm going to assume matchup problems. Poor Kav would die running up and down in a game at this pace.
