I agree. In their last road game at UMass, he looked completely checked out when the team was huddled at a timeout, when he should have been engaged in a blowout where he was more likely to see playing time. It didn't look promising.

Agree with Frankie. Curious about your thought about “maybe one other”. Specific player in mind or generic one from “the field”?

Not that you asked me, but if what Larry said about Ibi is true, I would assume that the other two guards, Davis and Cohill may be looking elsewhere? I hope not, but if someone besides Frankie leaves, I would think it would be one of them.

No one specific. One of Obi, Landers, Davis or Cohill.

I wouldn't think Cohill is going anywhere. He's a Freshman who is getting some Playing Time and developing. And he is from northern Ohio, so close to home.
Davis is a possibility I guess, because he would be in line for a significant drop in playing time.
My best guess is Policelli. He was supposed to redshirt this year, but injuries messed that up. So it ended up being a tough situation all around, and a development year was wasted. He can transfer and get another year to develop (which he clearly needs).
I still won't believe Toppin is going pro, but I guess that isn't out of the question either...

Thanks. I would agree that one of the guards might leave. I hope they stay - a lot probably depends on how they feel they are measuring up to the competition in practice.

I never really thought about this before, but if you are getting beat in practice by guys sitting out, I wonder how that can effect your confidence during games.

I think Obi last year was probably schooling Kostas. You never really know unless you’re there everyday, but it’s a strong probablity

Wondering now about Davis. Cohill played much more than he did in the 2nd half. There may be something going on there.

Aside from tonights box score which shows who deserved the PT, look at the body language. Jordan is just not as engaged as his team mates, something is up sadly. I think he could be a good player, but I fear we have seen the last of him at UD Arena.

I heard that Obi has been saying he wants to play 3 years, skip his senior year, take online classes, and be a NBA lottery pick.

I hate to see it, he's had some great games last year and this year. He just seems to disappear too often, no idea why. I won't be shocked if he ends up leaving.

I agree about Davis. I think both Policelli and Davis will transfer. Hate to see Davis go but the body language tells me he is outta here. I hope they get the Sinclair kid. I've heard from multiple sources he is a tough kid--not just a shooter and would be a strong contributor next year.

Wonder if Davis was not feeling well tonight.
If he transfers he might be a rarity in being a decent player that could go on to contribute somewhat materially, at a school with a material program. We have had a bunch of solid players transfer in and contribute substantially (Josh, Siebert, Dillard....). Have we ever lost anybody of consequence or had anyone do well at a real program other than Staten ??

Not sure Wright State is a real program, but Cain Doliboa had success there. Decades ago, a kid named Mike Blevins transferred from Dayton to Jacksonville and started on their Final Four team with Artis Gilmore and Penbrook Burrows (spelling?), their two 7-footers. And Meachem at Illinois.

I think you guys are reading into a single game a little too much. Yes, it was a tough night for Davis but he's still a heck of a Flyer and will/should be starting when we play the Dukes. Unless Davis sees writing on the wall with Ibi and or Rodney no way he leaves. With our depth next year, everyone will play less (minus Obi). Davis is still probably our second best defender and our best shooter...when he chooses to shoot.
I'd like to see more consistency from JD but we tend to forget he's a Sophomore. I think UD is keeping McNeil warm because he's literally down the road and bc he's a scorer. One thing, we're currently lacking is a pure scorer but let's not get greedy, we're pretty lucky we have JD.

Jacksonville's first NCAA game that year (1970) was a win over Western Kentucky at UD Arena. I was there and also saw Notre Dame hammer Ohio University with Austin Carr scoring 61 points.

I don't know what's up with JD. But I know that the starting shooting guard needs to score more than zero points.

I hate to lose anyone from a team that has the chemistry of this team, but I’m pretty sure Frankie is moving on. When you’re leading by 20+ for most of the 2nd Half, and you have a scholarship player who doesn’t see the court for the first 37 minutes, that’s some pretty clear handwriting.

I agree. There’s a Facebook team photo from after the game, and every guy looks happy, as if they all genuinely like each other. There is good chemistry on this team. I know we need a shooter, and the odds are a player or two will hit the exit door. And if so, that’s ok. But I wouldn’t be disappointed if everybody stayed. It’s easy to quibble with an individual’s skill set, but it’s hard to want one of these guys nudged out the door. I don’t see malcontent anywhere on the roster.

While I agree with your premise regarding FP, it was still just a 12 pt game with under 7 minutes left in the game. At that point I think Josh still only had 2-4 points.
It was a very weird last 7 minutes where they scored 28 points after only scoring 42 for the first 33+ minutes. I didn’t really feel comfortable until Ryan hit that 3 pointer to put it up to 15.

This team has been really hard to figure out how they play from one game to the next. Best road record I believe since they have been in the A10, yet struggle on their home court. Some funk that different players have gotten into and moved out of during the season.
Again I haven't known how to gage the team for consistency and gave up about 15 - 20 games ago. I just wait and see what I am going to get. Entertained or Frustrated by the end of a game.
But one thing that seems obvious is the genuine happiness they share between each other. That was something that CAG mentioned early and frequently during the pre-season.

As ONLY SIR FIGGIE would have it ... either makes your case or not, he's jolly on the spot with the figures and stats.
Thanks! I guess close but no cigar! 3rd place if I can utilize my math skills from 3 grade. And we still have one road game to play in the regular season.

7-1 if you count the forfeit victory we were awarded by the A-10 against St Weldaventure.

Considering UD's history on the road in A10 play, any record above .500 is a successful year. Playing in some of these places has been brutal.
There have been some good A10 road wins this year.

D'Ariss Dean
Does anyone know anything about D'Ariss Dean college prospects? He singlehandedly killed Alter last night at the arena in a Div II sectional final. he plays for Cincinnati Aiken and displayed a VERY sweet stroke from outside and the FT line....nothing but net almost every time. Ended with 36 and has a season avg of 21ppg. His shot reminded me of the high lofts of Xerius. What grade is he in? Who is interested in him? Given our need for reliable outside shooters, are we looking?

I'm guessing he started more than 8 out of 22 games?

If you click on the stats, you'll see that Aiken doesn't always break their lineups into starters and bench, so don't read anything into the 8/22 starts. His stats speak for themselves.

Shooting guard Sean McNeil from Sinclair Community College tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that Pitt has made his list of finalists. I have not been able to confirm the other teams on this list.
McNeil does hold offers from Arkansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Providence, TCU, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Dayton and Oregon.
The next step for McNeil is to start taking official visits to these schools. He didn’t give any indication as to work and the order in which these trips will take place.

Didn't he come to like 3 or 4 games this season? I imagine we have to be in contention.

Only 70 miles down I75 to Union KY - hopefully his Parents have some influence. By far we are the closest of the 6 on his list.

Closer than Western? Probably, but can't be that big of a difference. West Virginia isn't too bad either, Ole Miss is a good ways away, and Oregon and Texas Tech is a whole different animal. The one thing that UD has going for him in this regard, is that his parents are already familar with the drive and city, so I'd imagine that UD is fairly comfortable.
As of this moment, UD doesn't have an open scholarship, at least not publically.

Certainly like all the guys on the team but if a couple scholarships came open there's good looking transfers out there
Chattanooga SF Kevin Easley is leaving the Mocs, Archie recruited, not sure if AG did. From Indianapolis and was the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year. Good stat line and can shoot
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...9/kevin-easley
Ohio sophomore forward Jason Carter (16.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg) has entered the transfer portal, source told @Stadium. Ohio just hired Jeff Boals to replace Saul Phillips.

Game gets out at 9 PM - Parents meet with son - get a bite to eat - head home at 10:30 PM.
If it is a UD game - home at 11:30 PM
If it is a WKU game - home at 1:30 AM
Yup - that is a big difference in the winter months. Not insurmountable - but I would imagine the Parents would like their son to be at the closer school. Assuming they are close and like to go to his games.
Yes - it is going to be a long 250 days until the Maui Tourn.

True, he wasn’t an AG recruit, but I’ve seen him since Game 1 last year as an AG guy. Case in point: when Crutcher needed breathers down the stretch this year, AG played Jordan at the Point as much as Dwayne, if not more so. Jordan may simply be a guy who has confidence issues. If that’s all there is to it, then I hope he works through them as a Flyer.

Have never seen Easley play, but he seems to have a size and skill level that would help fill a void once Ryan and Trey graduate next year. Also, coming from Chattanooga, he may not have the “bright lights/big city” desires of some recruits who’d also be eying P5 offers. Might be worth pursuing.

He was a one time VCU commit but I think he got lost in the shuffle from their coaching changes.
According to the article I saw he wants to get back closer to his home in Indianapolis

Both have good rebounding numbers. We are in need.
EAsley also shot 44% from field!

Lewis averaged 13ppg for Bama. Was second youngest player in D-I. He visited UD before committing to Bama. Top-40 player out of HS. Stats very respectable for first-year player in SEC. Im sure if someone has an inside communication track to him, Grant does. A/TO ratio needs cleaned up but thats true for all frosh.

Transfers, sits a year, then has 1 more year behind Crutcher and Chatman, maybe (assuming another scholly opened up). Would definitely impact our 2020 recruiting, since we are trying to get Posh Alexander.

Not that unusual, because players have to take summer classes, a lot of players could graduate in 3 years if they are 15-18 credits year round. Only have to be 12 credits to be considered full time.

@VerbalCommits
Wisconsin G Tai Strickland (FR) is leaving the progam.
AG recruited him last spring, son of Rod Strickland. Could come in as a Redshirt soph. and they take over the PG spot after Crutcher/Chatman graduate
Might make the transition easier with a veteran

I like this. If I remember correctly Tai was a good recruit (Top 350) or so. Him committing to Wisconsin and expecting PT right away was probably a bit of a stretch. Wonder if AG can continue to work some recruiting magic.

It sounds like the coaching staff wanted him to redshirt but he decided to compete for minutes against a veteran backcourt.

I wonder what options a player like Strickland has. Seems kind of similar to a Frankie situation. Only played in 9 conference games for a total of 11 minutes. Frankie was slightly better ranked coming out of HS. I bet Tai ends up at USF with B.G. in a couple weeks.

If he's really set on playing, he could just head to JUCO for a season and try to boost his stock

OSU stringing him along and they only have one scholly left and are favorites for a 7' kid. X was hot on him early and they just signed another G juco and not sure if they have another opening. This kid is a stud and teams were just waiting to see how he recovered from his injury a year ago.

My coworker’s daughter is a cheerleader for Liberty and he has followed him all year. He has real talent and was the key player on a state semi final team for a team new to that stratosphere. Not sure it’s a need but he would be a good get this late if something opens up.

And we weren't going to win more than 18 games this season.
And no way Kostas would be drafted.
And no way what's-her-name losses that election.
I love you guys who overuse the words no way, not a chance, and it'a a lock.

Quoting udscott doesn't help prove you're point. That sentiment was not widely shared. I was surprised Kostas wasnt drafted earlier than the last pick based on last name alone. You got anymore for me? Kira could go to any program he wants. I'm just being realistic, there's no need to get your panties in a bundle.

I was not impressed with Tai Strickland's high school clips, and was amazed Wisconsin took him. He was a three star. We can and are doing better.

Count Duke, Tennessee, Memphis and Louisville as a few of the programs involved early on with Alabama transfer guard Kira Lewis, a source tells @Rivals
Arizona, Uconn, Miami, Baylor, Providence, Northwestern, Pitt, Nevada, Iowa State, Indiana, Georgia, TCU and Auburn are also involved with top available transfer Kira Lewis

Sorry you made the absolute statement and the response was fitting and did prove the point. ‘Realistic’ and ‘no way’ are time zones apart. I’m guessing from your OP and response that if he does come here you’ll be at the front of the line saying he must not be as good as advertised ??
There’s no presidence with AG to make that statement. If anything he’s shown just the opposite since he’s been here.
Not sure I’d want my rationale and comments compared to udscott and if it was I’d re-evaluate things a tad.

I hope he goes to WVU....like today! That would, most probably, take them out of the running for McNeil.

I feel pretty comfortable with my original statement. I also don't think Zion is transferring to UD after this season, but you never know right? AG has done well recruiting but if he pulled off a five star with proven P5 production, I'll come back to eat crow.

He made a visit but UD didn't even make the final 12 for Kira the first time around.

LaBron made an unofficial visit to UD before his hard core recruiting started. It's good that this MB was not aware of it. Or he would have been a lock to attend UD immediately.
