Back in 1980, in one of his signature works “Against the Wind”, the esteemed philosopher Robert Clark Seger reminisced:
“It seems like yesterday, but it was long ago.”
In response, the Flyer Faithful would ask:
“Hey Bob, why not both?”
In the case of UD home victories vs. Top Ten opponents, it was, indeed, both long ago and yesterday. Way back in 2007, there was the massive 25-point win over #6 ranked Pitt. “From the Swamp” was there:

And as I write this, the day after the Red and Chapel Blue upset of the #5 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles, it was also yesterday.
Let’s bask in the glory of a hard-fought Flyer victory:

As always after a big Flyer upset win, the opponent’s message board makes for interesting reading. From MU Scoop.com:

Next up is UNLV on Tuesday at home and then the UC rematch in Cincy on Friday…and “FTS” will be there again this year.
That’s it “From the Swamp.”
This pretty much sums up 20 pages of Marquette fan posts. Every third post was a complaint about the officiating. They were called for 17 total fouls. Dayton was called for 50 fouls just in the first two games in Maui. Get over it.
Arch in The DDN also connects Brian Roberts and the 2007 upset of Pitt to the Marquette game:
Swampy: Thanks for another great article. You put everything together (video and print) in one location. I am sure that Coach Donaher and Rita were smiling down from above.
Thank you sir. I too enjoyed reading the MU thread – a lot of bitter people in Milwaukee. Happier Days ahead for them I think.
