Archbishop Alter High School in suburban Dayton has added yet another member to the University of Dayton mens basketball team. According to published reports, 6’8” PF Keith Waleskowski will become a Flyer but will sit out the 99-00 season, leaving one scholarship still available for next year. It is also likely that UD will offer Waleskowski an academic scholarship until his basketball eligibility begins due to his exceptional scholastic achievements. It is not known whether Keith will be considered a redshirt freshman or a walk-on with practice privileges next season. If everything holds true to form, Keith is the first of five scholarships to be awarded for the 00-01 class.

What makes this turn of events interesting may have more to do with Keith’s brother Adam, a 6’7” sophomore who has been ranked among the Top-50 players in his class by several recruiting services. With Keith choosing to wait a year before starting his college career, some Flyer fans are wondering if the brothers have ideas of playing alongside one another in UD uniforms. It is too early to tell if such possibilities are real, but it makes for interesting conversation.

Keith chose UD over several low mid-major programs. HoopScoop ranked him around #250 in his class, however HoopScoop also ranked Brooks Hall #212 in his class so this criteria is seldom watertight.
