BEVERLY HILLS (MI) — Like most of you, I’m kinda wondering what effect UD’s loss to Villanova on Friday afternoon in the Puerto Rico Tipoff will have on the Flyers’ Top 25 ranking come Monday afternoon. Last time I looked, #5 is supposed to beat #18, right? Wonder if UD’s victory over #19 Georgia Tech will be enuf for doofus Jeff Goodman at FoxSports.com to grudgingly include Dayton in his Top 25?

And now, as the old Lynyrd Skynyrd song says, ‘Gimme back my bullets’:

— Do you think many of the 500+ person Flyer contingent will be attending the AC/DC concert that is taking place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico tonight? Me neither.

— Good idea to have a one day break in the proceedings at the Tipoff before the final games take place. In that Puerto Rican sub-tropical heat and humidity the players are going to need a day off to re-charge.

— In case you missed it, ESPN showed the video of this trick shot by K-State’s Denis Clemente at halftime of the Wildcats game vs. Old Miss:

— Never been a huge fan of Comcast, but boy did they pick a great time to add ESPNU to the basic digital package up here in suburban Motown. I got home from work on Friday just in time to catch the final 5 minutes of the Villanova game and I’ll be able to see all of the K-State tilt on Sunday afternoon.

— Have you had the chance to check out the new UD Hoops site?

http://godaytonhoops.com/

A lot of people on the MB wondered why UD released it when all of the content wasn’t finished. This is what is referred to in web parlance as a ‘soft launch’ or a ‘beta launch.’ No, everything isn’t perfect, but you throw it out there and let people play with it and then refine it. Nice work Doug Hauschild and company.

— Frequent UD Pride MB poster Fudd asked about Luke’s 6’10” younger brother Brian who is a senior at Hershey (IL) HS and whether UD could find a spot for him. Wonder if Brian would possibly consider being a preferred walk-on for the Flyers? BG does have 2 walk-ons graduating this year.

Here’s a look at “Little (although Brian is actually taller) Luke” from ChicagoHoops.com:

— While UD was losing to Villanova, future Flyer PG Juwan Staten guided Oak Hill to their 8th straight victory, a 77-51 win over Vertias (NC) Christian Academy.

— Have to believe that Arch needs to get himself a new headline writer at the DDN. We could have done without this one:

“UD-WSU together on the court again…sort of”

— Gotta agree with my favorite business blogger Stanley Bing from Fortune on this particular subject:

http://stanleybing.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2009/11/18/please-god-let-sarah-palins-book-tour-be-over/

My opinion of Palin has nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman and everything to do with her total lack of experience and political savvy.

— My old boss and fellow hoops junkie Tommy Turner sent me this link to a Sports Illustrated story on Elena Delle Donne, the consensus HS All-American who walked away from a full ride at UConn and is now suiting up for her home state Delaware Blue Hens:

Elena is the young lady I played pick-up hoops with a few years back while on vacation in Stone Harbor, NJ. Looks like she made the right decision for her.

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
