Those who frequent the platform-formerly-known-as-Twitter are aware that DaRon Holmes II goes by the username of “DaRonagon.” The Flyer Faithful first learned this fact when the highest ranked recruit to ever enroll at UD announced his commitment four years ago on Twitter:
Deuce looks really young in that graphic, doesn’t he? That’s because he was!
Along the way, DaRon’s dreams changed, as chronicled by Arch in The Dayton Daily News:
And he gave us countless video highlight thrills:
And he even took time to be a guest reader for Oakwood Schools:

And now DaRonagon is gone.
As was the case with Obi Toppin6-9/220lb | Brooklyn, New York
Dayton 2018-2020
2020 Naismith National POY
2000 Wooden Award before him, “it was time” even though (like Obi One) Holmes still had a year of eligibility remaining. And in keeping with Deuce’s nature, he announced the decision that we all suspected was coming with total class.
And with this thoughtful Instagram video:
Deuce isn’t done giving UD fans thrills, not by a long shot. We can all look forward to hearing his name called on June 26th when the NBA Draft is held.
Here are a couple of DaRon’s NBA player profiles:
Deuce at NBA Draft Combine: ‘I just know how to play basketball’:
Jonathan Givony at ESPN.com has Deuce going in the first round at #28 to the Denver Nuggets:
And after the NBA Draft, we will have the pleasure of watching DaRon join fellow Flyers Obi Toppin and Toumani Camara battling with the big boys in The League.
There really isn’t much left to say about Deuce but this:
Daronagon is gone to Denver. Knock ’em dead, big fella!
Amen to that.
